Mother's Day in the Garden - Spending time puttering around my garden

 Hi Friends,

Happy Mothers Day!

Our weather all spring has been super cold and windy, but today, is so nice I am getting outside in my back yard.

My mission today is to put out the humming bird feeder with a suggested mixture if 4 cups (or parts) of water to 1 cup (or parts) of sugar.  I combine the ingredients in a sauce pan, set stove top to low, to dissolve the sugar, let stand for 15 minutes to cool, then pour into feeders.

I have had these repurposed vintage bird feeder for many years, I recently search Pinterest and there are so many different style you could use to make your own.

With the weather permitting, I was glad to get some of my terra cotta pots out and set up in the back yard in the wagon, for my herb garden.

Another of my projects for today is to set out  the galvanized buckets and wire baskets out front on my porch area for planting.

There are still a few projects on my list to get done when the weather will permits.  Straightening up the deck, sweeping the patio, etc., etc., etc. I guess that will be in day to come.

Thank you for stopping by, please check back next week I will be showing you a thrift haul and how I have incorporation the found treasure into my home.

Vintage Haul - Had to Go Back for These 2 Treasures

 Hi Friends,

I stopped by my local antique/thrift store to see what was new.   This is what I came home with.

I have passed up these two items a few times because, I just couldn't figure out where to placed them

I've seen Nicole Northgarden on her You-Tube channel use the casserole dish caddy to style her cookbooks, I just saw Instagram a person on Instagram sit a basket in the middle of the caddy. So... I was thinking maybe a grouping of vintage jars would look nice? I paid $7.50 for the holder
Wm Rogers silver plate.

For now I have placed the vintage casserole caddy on the shelf in guest room holding vintage children books. What do you think?

This pewter mug has been on the shelf for several months and I just couldn't decide if it was vintage or not so finally, last week I search google.  What I found out was it's called a pewter horn mug made by Wilton Armtale in business for 118 years, So I purchased it for $5.00

I gather two other pewter mugs I have thrifted a couple of years ago for a little grouping, I think the mugs look great together.

I am so glad I went back and picked up these treasures they are a great addition to my décor! I think.
Mother's Day is tomorrow and I'm hoping to get out and putter in my back yard.  So please check back to see what I accomplished.

Until next time, thank you for stopping by

Keep the faith and "May God Bless You and Your Family"

Early Vintage Summer on the Mantel

 Hi Friends,

Today, I'm working on the mantel, I've gathered a few vintage chickens, I'm getting out the birdhouse, I'm liking the silver plate and pewter pieces amongst the rustic brown tones of the birdhouses.

This year I gave the small bird house face lift.

You may have notice the pewter horn mug I had to go back to the Vintage/Thrift store and purchase it paired up with a silver-plate platter

I really like how the colors of the my vintage chickens and the birds houses work well together.
What do you think?

A little rustic diy nest sitting in a thrifted silver-plate bowl, and a vintage rooster watching over the cute little diy eggs. The bowl may have been used, for fruit or slice bread and rolls. I have been using it for décor.

This little bird house had a cone shape roof and I decided to add a few stems from a Lilac bush and some "Dollar Tree" Spanish Moss".

Another pewter platter that was thrifted last year I think, helps to show off the the vintage glass vase I thrifted in March I believe.

I want to thank you for checking in, please check back any time, I'm trying to post at least every two week, with thrift hauls, vignettes of where I show off my thrifted treasures, and a few picks at my seasonal home decorating in and outside my home throughout the year.

Until next post....

Happy May Day! - Rustic Spring/Summer Vignettes on the Hutch -Vintage Chickens

Hi Friends, Happy May Day!

I'm so glad you stopped by, today I have gotten out the greenery tubs and a few bird houses to fill in the gaps, where I have taken down the Easter décor on the hutch in my living room.

As you know, I love collecting chicken figurines and have them display all seasons.

On the top of the hutch I have moved things around

The cute rustic bird nest was a very simple diy.

I love my small grouping of vintage milk glass bud vases

I've given my bird houses a rustic face lift as you can see they used to be white and very plain.

I changed up the vintage green glass shelf with a rustic looking bird house and one of my vintage roosters.

Rustic Vintage Woodsy Face Lift to the Bird Houses

 Hello Friends,

Today I'm doing a diy to give my Dollar Tree bird house a little ace lift.

I have thrifted three sets of wooden candle sticks.  My idea is to use them as risers

Then, I thought maybe to add a few embellishments.  First part of the year I purchase several bags of wood rounds from "Dollar Tree", I believe to make a winter wreath...Well it never happen   so I thought they might be good as risers

I want to thank you for stopping by to see this fairly simple project,
to give a few thrifted wooden candle sticks a face lift,

just by adding Spanish moss, reindeer moss, and a few wooden branch rounds, all from "Dollar Tree"

I really like the woodsy, rustic touch to these amazing birdhouses.

Leave a comment and let me know which style of bird house caught your eye.

So until next the next blog post....

Vintage Thrift Haul - and this is Where I Displayed the Treasure in My Home

 Hi Friends,

I've been thrifting again and I found some real exciting treasures.

I stopped by my local community thrift store to see if there was any treasures to find and I was presently surprise to find vintage hankies .

I couldn't believe how very cute these hankies are! reminded me of my grandma, The hankies had a price of $1.75 each - I only paid $.50 each. For now I'm displaying the hankies on top of the high-boy dresser in the guest room, very fitting for a girly room.

There were a good collection of S & P, at the store that day. I brought home 5 interesting salt & pepper shakers had a price of $1.50 each - I paid $.75 each.

I put two sets on a shelf above my kitchen cabinet and paired them with some of brown pottery pieces I have found in past years, bean pot, cheese crock and my small two piece collection of Hull pottery
the pair of salt and pepper shaker with little homesteader is marked "Japan"

The pair of little brown jugs are stink'en cute, I new they would great paired with my other dark brown pottery pieces.

I was kind of surprised to see the cream lid thermos since its spring,  but hey! Great for me. I display my thermos in a guess room when I'm not using them in vignettes up on the shelf. I paid $2.00 for the thermos.

I think my super favorite find at this store was a cute brushed copper planter with a glass frog in it that I paid $2.00. The frog look to be green, however green putty was holding the frog in the planter. lol

I grouped the flower frog two others I have on top of a couple of vintage cigar boxes.

I was also excited to pick up two more black enamel door knobs for $1.00, (they had a tag of $1.00 each), to add to the collection. Don't they look great in among the brushed copper pieces?

I have a Small collection of sewing items, when I spied the spindle for $5.00 I gladly put it in my basket  to display in my sewing area.

I've been picking up kitchen utensils the past couple of months, so when I notice this aluminum funnel/strainer piece for $1.25 it came home with me.

"Louis L' Amour", books I will enjoy reading this summer, and for a dollar a piece, I can read through the books and past it on.

The "Give Thanks", book, I'm putting away till November sometime.

*********

Then I stopped by my local antique/ thrift store

I found two books, this cute little red books is titled the velveteen Rabbit for $1.00. The yellow book with the title "Threads of Time" prefect for the sewing corner.

I will be holding on to this book to use in my Easter vignettes next year

I also came across a couple of vintage cigar boxes that I thought would be great with my other vintage cigar boxes in a grouping.  The Montecruz 10 count (thin cigar box) I paid $3.00, the Roi-Tan was $6.00.  I probably paid to much for it, the box was in good shape for a cardboard box. funny! I really like how this vignette looks.

At this vintage/thrift store I have seen quite a few terra cotta pot for under $3.00 so today I picked up two. I'm using the pots for my herbs on the deck.

I always look at the dollies, if I can find dollies under $3.00, I usually do these dollies were $1.75. I place dollies under lamps, under small catch all dishes etc., throughout my home.

The funnels and ink well I added to a shelf in office that has a few school items gathered already.

I sure hope you enjoyed my haul today and where I placed these wonderful treasure I found for my home.

Decorating is all about what you love, so get out there and go thrifting and find home décor you love for a reasonable price.

Thank you friend for stopping by my blog, please check back next week to see some more treasure that I have found to incorporate into my home......

So until the next time.......
