Getting My Garage Back!!!

It may not seem like a big deal to some, but my journey to my little Colorado cottage has
taken me a little longer than I thought to finally get through my STUFF!!
I'm still in the unpacking stage ( I've been here for 6 months!!!) it is so hard to let go of some of my treasures that I have been hauling with me for the past 15 years.

I've always been a collector, but when my husband died, I decided I really can't be moving all my stuff.. and the girl's stuff too. As they get older, there is a lot that I don't need to have a around any more.... you know like all the must have toys and books that over whelmed the house starting when our angel turned one! I've moved from a 2000 sq ft house to a 1200 sq ft house and then to my cottage. It's a 900 sq ft house. Whew!!! thank goodness I have a large garage with a loft! But downsizing is a must!

The shelve don't look like much, but they have been a godsend to help me organize the piles of boxes that where in this garage.

It's a slow process sorting through it all, but I'm working on getting a yard sale going soon I'll let you know how it went.

Whittle of the Woods

Our Little town host a "Whittle of the Woods" Festival every year in June. The Whittlers come from all over the country for this four day contest to make a winner sculpture from down trees. The whittlers draw from a pool of down trees to see what their canvas will be and start whittling

On the fourth day (Saturday) the community votes for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Late afternoon Saturday the town host a free concert this year the bands will be "A Sleep at the Wheel".
My Mother and her DH, my Sister and her DH and two DD's, my Brother and SIL and her DD and DS. It was a house full but a lot of fun!!!

Did Someone Say "YARDSALE"

I think it is "Yard Sale" time.

In February I signed loan papers on this little cottage. Thank goodness it has a two car garage. I had all the boxes put in the garage, until I had time to weed them out.

I really didn't think I had so much stuff. The house that I was renting was around 2000 sq ft farm house, very large rooms and lots of storage. So I have been slowly going through boxes and finding homes for my collectibles that I really love and have been carting around with me for 20 some years, the rest I must let some else enjoy.

So.............. I made the decision to have YARD SALE.

Do you realize how much thought is needed to pull off a great yard sale?

- Decide what weekend would be covenient

- for less stress....start pricing your items for the sale as you sort

- Friday is the best day to have a "Yard Sale" in my little town so...........

- Put the "Yard Sale" add in the local paper two or three day before the sale, so that the bargain hunter can plan there day

- having the table set up Thursday afternoon, knowing that there will be looky-loo that saw your add and show up as your setting up the tables.

And the most important thing is to have your sign out on the main drag with the arrow pointing the right way! lol I've exactly had that happen to me, one of my signs was pointing the wrong way until a customer came and told me bless their hearts.

Thank goodness my mom and her husband really enjoy the outing so they drive 2 hour and stay with me and help me price things and give me a relief when nature calls and they love visiting with all the people that stop by.

So wish me luck!

Is it Bribery or Compromising?

Summer break is almost here. Yippee!!!!
My youngest DD has had a real struggle staying in school all day this last quarter (she's 16 and a Sophmore in High School). This in it's self is a issue for her.
Every day I drop her off at school, finding out later that she skipped out a noon!
It seems that all but one of her friends only have to go half days, so she feels she need to keep them company? I'm not sure where her head is right now.
We have been discussing homeschooling or working school credit. Even though DD may still have to take some online classes just to make up the lesson time that she skipped out on, I'm hoping that the idea while give her the incentive to finish out this year in public school.
What are you gone'a do???? I'm not giving up, I'll keep working with her

Have a great Day!!

Testing her wings

My oldest Daughter has been trying out her wings for about 2 years now. The first time she decided to leave home, she was pregnant and didn't want to let me know so she went to Texas with the boyfriend with not much money, I think maybe a 2 week pay check. After about 3 months neither of them had found jobs and they were living with his parents they headed back to Colorado. How they made it was a miracle, because of the mechanical shape the vehicle was in when they got back to Colorado I let them live with me. Both had gotten jobs, my daughter had the baby, things were looking good and then the boyfriend got home sick and wanted to go back home. Of course when my daughter gathered up enough money for a plan ticket she flew back to Texas. No car, not much money and a baby.
There was one more time they tried the move and that lasted about 5 months.
I think now she has finally made the leap. She left for Texas to see if her and the boyfriend can make a life together. This time she has a plan! She has her own vehicle, she has some office training, her GED, a little money in her pocket and a job interview when she get there. Hallelujah!!!
I'm going to miss her and the Grand baby, but why does she have to move so far away. I guess I need to stock up on frequent flyer mile or get a very economical vehicle.

Have a Great Day!
