Happy Thanksgiving

I decided to cook a Ham for Dinner today at the request of DD2.  So we had Spiral Ham, Mashed potatoes and gray and pumkin pie.
This is the 1st time I have made a pumkin pie by scatch and suprisingly it turned out okay. I just followed the recipe from a can of Libby's Pumkin Pie filling so easy.

I'm still not ready

Oh the Joys of Fall, Snow is in the forcast again!
So I decided today was the day!  My neighbor's cottonwwod trees are pretty much done dropping leaves
So I raked my patio, the driveway and the path to the dumpster,



but ran out of bags.  So I just made a pile and hope the wind does'nt blow -Yeah Right- until I can get to True Value to get some more leaf bags.

“A Penny Saved is a Penny Earned”

 

 

I count pennies and proud of it!  I find them in the washer, dryer,on the floor, in the couch it’s amazing how fast those little pennies add up. Actually, it’s the only currency that I’m able to save.

When my daughter ask for extra money. I point to my my penny jar,she rolls her eyes and says never mine.

What is it about pennies that teenager don’t think there spendable currency?

I'm Not Authorized!!!!

I just got a reality check today and it hurt my feelings! I was trying to verify that my DD2 had medical coverage.

As you know my DD2 turned 18 last month it was the happiest day.
However-----

Today, I  found the time to set on the phone to wait to talk to a person about health coverage for her through her state provider, after some time I finally was able to talk to a human and I was told I was not authorized to be given any information concerning my daughter now that she has turned 18.

I was told by the rep that my daughter would have to call back to get the information I was looking for.

Funny thing is when DD2 called back and found out she needed to call another office to get the information I needed.  Go Figure--The hoops we jump through to get what???

• not exercising
• not getting the rest I need

Job Interview

I’ve gotten an appointment for a job interview this week!  Yippee!

 

For every twenty-thirty resume’s I send out, I get a call for an interview.  I had applied online with a security company and I was notified to come in for a interview at the Colorado Job service center on Thursday.

Mini Vacations are great!

I have not written much about losing my husband of 25 years, but every now and then I start falling off track so to speak and last week was one of those weeks. 
I've been questioning every decision I have made in the last couple of months...

• am I giving my oldest daughter the support she needs to start her own life?
• am I showing my youngest daughter how to prepare for life after High School?
• Have I made the right decision to go back to college,etc.

It's like taking baby step every day!  I wake up every morning, give thanks for what God has provided for me and my girls in this journey.

So I took a "Mini Vacation" in my loft over the garage of all places. I just needed to get away from all the commotion that goes on at my house and take a moment or two to look back at the way my life has evolved after my husband passed away.

Some of us will be going to Memorial Day services at the cemetery, some of us will be going camping, some us will be gathering with family for a picnic, some of us will going to parades to honor our fallen soldiers,   men and women that have helped to keep our Freedom in America.

Last Day of School !! Yipeee !!

This coming week is 'Final's Week' at the college and then summer break for me. I'm so excited!  I have a few weeks before the High School is out for their summer break, The last thing I thought I would be doing is watching my grandson this summer.

Don't get me wrong I love watching them, we play outside, we watch old cartoons, we plays games, and oh the toys! toys! toys!, but I had a lot of things on my list I was hoping to get done around my little Colorado Cottage in the next couple of weeks.  Oh well it's all good. Their only this age for a short time

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Did I just see a little red bearded man leaving a gold piece behind? That's right, it's..........    Saint Patricks Day!

With all the kids in the house, I've been thinking about what would be fun for supper tonight, maybe "Green Eggs and Ham" "Cornbeef and Cabbage", and maybe something fun with JELLO.  Reality check .... kids and I are in school, not a lot of time in my day.  I picked up a 2 lb package of cornbeef and a couple of pounds of red potatoes last week.  So before school I got the cornbeef and potatoes in the crock pot set on low and off to school we go! Not very Irish I know, but it's what my kids will eat.

My Last Week of Winter Break and My Project List

DD#2 goes back to school on Monday. This is my last week of winter break and my project list hasn't one thing checked off yet.  

1. Actually give the whole house a good vacuuming (didn't get to it over the past couple of weeks)

2. Move a anchor hanger in the kitchen
3. Get my paper work out of my bedroom and setup my desk in the spare room
4. Hang some pictures that have been in boxes since I've moved into the house back in February 2009
5. Put up a shelve and some pictures in living room
6. Cleanup the laundry room (a working in progress)
7. Clean out the refrigerator and clean the stove/oven (I don't like this job, not sure I'll get to this one)

I hope to check off at least #1,#3,#6, and #7 wish me luck!
