Welcoming the Christmas Season -Getting Ready to Decorate for Christmas

It Snowed Over Thanksgiving Week

Hi Friends,

 I'm so glad your here!
Tomorrow is the first day of December, and I'm digging out my Christmas bins.

I have a few traditions I tried to incorporate....

1.Count down stocking
- I like having a count down to Christmas, it build the excitement and helps me remember all of the extracurricular activities that go on during the Christmas season!

2.Christmas Cards
- I still like sending and receiving Christmas cards, a couple of years back I revamped my Christmas card holder.

3. Garland
- Garland is the starting point to my decorating, so I like to get the garland up before I start adding Christmas touches.
This is two of three tubs I have with garland.

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to stop by My Little Colorado Cottage.

It's time to Decorate for the Season!

 So until my next post......

5 Grab Bags of Fun Christmas Ornaments - Weekend Thrifting

Hi Friends,

I'm so glad you stopped by!
I decided to go by my local thrift store looking for vintage Christmas items.
I found five bags of wonderful ornaments!
***
I picked this bag because of the glitter star....

I paid $2.00 for the grab bag, look at the cute bicyle, sliegh, and sled, so adorable.
***

Next bag for $1.50.....
I've been on the look-out for small Mercury glass bulbs and I found a bag full! Plus small brass jingle bells.
***

This grab bag for $.75 had a few of the ornaments with a 'made in Japan sticker'....

I thought the little deer in the silver tinsel star was cute.
***

I couldn't pass up the bag of candle clips for $.50! I'm hoping to add to some garland.

***
The last grab bag had some awesome ornaments for $2.50...

I enjoy using 'Crochet Angels and Snowflakes in my Christmas decor, not sure if I'll hang them on a tree or use them in a vignette.
A few more country hand-made ornaments, a super darling Angel Fairy.
Look at these cute bunny ear fairies, I think I'll be holding on to these darlings to use in my Easter decor in the Spring. A few cross-stitch ornaments and the yarn dolls are cute, Im not sure if I'll use them on my Christmas tree this year.
***
Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to stop by to see what treasures I have found out thrifting this week.

I would love to hear what kind of ornament you use on your tree.

Have you found some interesting Christmas ornaments while out thrifting?

Autumn Among My Vintage Collections

Hi Friends,

Today, I'm so excited to share how I'm adding some Autumn touches to some of my vintage collections.
***
This Fall season I'm using pumpkins, acorns, pinecones, fall pip-berries and color leaves.
***
As you know I love thrifting for vintage treasures, and I really like picking up vintage jello molds ...........

........in this cubby I made a little pumpkin using two molds for the pumpkin and a vintage glass drawer knob as a stem
I do love milk glass, usually priced fairly and easy to find (my collection is growing).

I have always enjoyed finding vintage canning jars, they are reasonably priced at $2-4's and not to hard to find.  My favorite jars are the lavender color jar, they are a little harder to find.
Over 30 years ago I started collecting "Hull's" brown drip pottery.  The year I was married (1980) I had a nice table setting gifted to us from my mother-in-law. I used it for many years.
Unfortunately, I gave it away.
Now I'm collecting it again, go figure?

Upscale Old Faux 'DT' Pumpkins

Hi Friends,

Today, I'm so excited to share how I'm adding natural pumpkin vines to "DT" pumpkins.
***
I grew pumpkins this year ,however the season was short and all I have is a whole lot of vines.
***
So, I decided to use the vines and upscale a few 'DT' pumpkins
Here are the vines I collected to add to "DT" faux pumpkins.
***

***
Here's how I have incorporated the amazing upscale pumpkins into my 'Fall Decor' here on top of the hutch.

***
A couple of pumpkins were put on the mantel

Friday Vintage Thrifting - So Many Sewing Notions

Hi Friends,

I'm so glad your here! Today, sharing what I found at my local vintage thrift store

This particular day, it didn't seem like there were any new and reasonably priced treasures to be found!

A second time through, I notice a large basket of grab bags in the sewing area.

This bag looked interesting for $3.00. Is that a little sewing basket?
Isn't this little basket cute?
Inside this cute basket were odds & ends
fabric swatches, buttons, packet of sewing needles, tiny brash safety pins,
measuring tape, 6" ruler and a metal shoe horn with advertising!
***
some other items in the grab-bag were wooden thread spools, a tweezer, coarse black thread, spool of pink ribbon, buttons, and a little seam ripper
***
Second grab bag for $2.50 .....
Had more sewing notions
rick-rack, pocket liners, thick black thread,
***
a nice bundle of red and white ruffle lace trim,
vintage black and red type writer ribbon,
1-inch elastic waist band on a card, 1/4-inch elastic bundle,
and a interesting 'Moppolls' instruction sheet.
I remember back in the 80's or 90's this craft project was a favorite in all the craft fair shows.
***
Also in the grab-bag....
was this cute little 1960's Childs Sundress Pattern

Also a pattern to embroider the flowers on the front of the dress

***

The favorite of this grab-bag is the Cross and Crown Quilt pattern with templates!

I was so glad to have the opportunity to stopped by my local vintage thrift store today.
***
Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to stop by to see what treasures I have found out thrifting this week.
