Happy July 1st Been Thrifting Again - at a few Yard Sale -Oh My the Treasures I Found

 Hi Friends,

Today I went to 4 yard sales and was so surprised with yard sale prices!

Lanterns are on my list of treasure to look for and look I found "3" the large lantern $8.00 I was surprised that the two lanterns had the glass globes intact.  The small red for $3.00 and the little patriotic lantern $2.00 and had fuel in it.

Thermos are another item I look for, I believe I got the green Thermos free and I saw the larger water cooler, I paid $6.00 for it.

This green Thermos fit right in with the collection.

*****
1970 Anchor Hocking oil lamp is so cute I added it to a shelf in the corner of the kitchen. Note because I will be using the cute lamp as décor I replace the lamp oil with color water. Love It!

*****

Right now I have the cool green water jug sitting on the beverage cart. Going to use it for ice tea on '4th of July' afternoon get together to watch fireworks.

The lantern I'm pairing up with two other lanterns I've had for a while.

*****
Christmas platters for $1.00 each and the large plate is a 50's or 60's fiberglass Christmas planter.  I'll be stashing them away until Christmas.

*****
All of these item were thrown in for FREE!
I was so thrilled.

I'll be adding the church keys to the collection, for now I'm using this key rack to display my collection of vintage bottle openers.

*****
I have a vintage jar that needs a zinc milk glass lid.  I thought the lid would fit on the ATLAS Mason jar, but as you can see it didn't.

oops I need to dust

This Ball jar doesn't have much of a brim, but maybe the lid will fit.

*****
The pocket watch will be put into a vignette along with the advertisement change pocket for now on a night stand.

*****

The wire tray is for cooking over open fire, maybe for fish, so I'll be putting it into our camping gear.

*****
At another garage sale

I found a framed Snoopy picture $1.00, I have been a big fan since the late 60's of Snoopy items, I pick them up now and then if the price is right.

Also a blue because of the color, but not very aged book, but for $.50 I couldn't pass it up.

Also, at this yard sale, for $5.00 I picked up the shutters there red I think I'll paint them chalk paint even though I do like red. You'll have to stop by in a day or two to see how I'm using the shutters.

*****
Yard Sale #3

I'm looking for Patriotic treasures right?  I was not disappointed. There were 3 to4 different patriotic patterned napkin set.

I picked up five red, white, and blue star napkins to use at the 4th of July get together to watch fire works.

The cute bibs I thought to frame them in grandkids bed room.
The green and orange yellow bandanas will be put away until fall.

Oh man the hair pins my mother used hairs like that
hair style.

*****
I just had to pick these three game books up, I think my vintage poker chip rack and dice make a nice vignette.

*****
Yard Sale #4
I didn't take a picture - they had boy clothes so I stopped and I did pick up 3 pair of nice wranglers pant and a John Deer sweat shirt for one of the grandsons for $4.00.

If you have checked a few of my post I do like Hens and Rooster. I spotted this beauty! $2.00

I place this beautiful wooden hen in the herb wagon, I herbs by seed aren't growing very fast as you can see.  I do have dill but the cilantro and parsley are kind of delayed.

Last item was this awesome Nursery Rhymes vintage book. I love the illustration in vintage books.

I want to thank you for making my blog part of your day, please check back any time. I'm trying to post at least every two weeks, with thrift hauls, vignettes of where I show off my thrifted treasures, and a few peek at my seasonal home decorating in and outside my home.

Red, White, and Blue - Touches to my Vintage Country/Cottage Summer Décor

 Hello Friends,

Today, I'm shopping my home for Vintage-Rustic décor to make red white and blue vignettes through out my house for the month of July.

I like to add flags, diy wooden stars, pip berries picks and red white florals into my vintage summer décor.

In a corner of the living room, I have a bookcase with a cabinet that I house my salt and pepper collection.

The vintage red lantern is a new thrifted item this year, looks nice in this Coke- Cola vignette.

*****
On top of a recently thrifted vintage picnic basket, I placed a clear glass flower frog on top of a bread pan for height, to display a group of flags.

I also incorporated the amazing pottery mug I picked up at my local thrift store

Old Iron Side

*****
On the entry shelf, I used a few pieces of my milk glass collection for the RED, WHITE, BLUE into this vignette.

*****
On the top of the hutch I just rearranged a few things. Added small flags and red, white, blue stars.

I want to thank you for checking out the blog, please check back any time to see what's going on.  I'm trying to post at least every two weeks with thrift haul and a vignette to show off the treasure I found.
And of course seasonal  decorating in and outside my home.

Until next time........

What can I do in the Garden in June ? Enjoy the Blooming Perennials in the Garden.

 Hi Friends,

I'm out in the yard today, (My happy place) enjoying the beautiful poppies in full bloom.

Weeding is never done - think I have mentioned before that our spring has been below 40* at night for the month of April and May and seems to rains for several days each week.

This past week the evenings are warming up with thunder showers in the afternoon. So, I've tried to get out for about an hour in the morning and weed.

Iris are blooming also, aren't they beautiful? I need to weed this bed also, maybe I'll get to it in a couple of days.

Another part of my back yard, I have the red dianthus and violet salvia in bloom. The Iris in this area didn't bloom this year not quite sure, I may have split this bundle last fall.

The sweet peas seem to be happy in the straw I started last year with growing a few cucumber and pumpkin plants last year in the straw bales and they did fine. I've added wire fencing to the pallet for the sweet peas to climb on.

Pumpkin plants are doing well, also I need to be thinking how to get a trellis ready.

I just thought I'd give you a peek of what I have been up to the back yard.  When the weather is nice I love to putter around my yard.

Thank you for stopping by,  So until next time....

Vintage Thrifting in Another Town - Found Some Great Treasures!

 Hello Friends,

I got out of small town this last weekend and enjoy having a variety of antique shops to rummage in.

The first antique/ thrift store was "Wilsons Estate" this shop had a great selection of furniture, a few very nice dinning room china hutches average price $75.00 to $150.00 (we took the car on this trip or I might have brought a china hutch home with me)

They had a variety of all kinds of treasures but a little bit sparse. It might be possible this store had recently opened, however, I was able to find a few cherished things.  This is what I bought home.

A big selection of postcards 4 for a $1.00 I'll be putting some of the post cards away for and spring.  I used

I picked up a vintage wooden pestle for a food mill masher? for $4.00.

I place the pestle on top of the kitchen cabinets with a longer pestle and a food mill.

The screened funnel here on the shelf, I used as a kid separating the skins of apricots for canning we called it a juicer.

I thought the hand held lemon or orange juicer, $3.00 was a great price and I didn't have one.

I've seen several collectors on social media pick up these Anchor Hocking cruets while thrifting.

My Mother had a set for oil and red vine vinegar. So of course when I spied the set for a $1.00 each!

*****

The next store was "Redeemed Treasures" of the past it had been in business around 7 year the clerk said this store was more like a mall with I would say fifty venders and a good variety of vintage treasure.

The winter scene post cards($1.00 each) I will be packing away until winter.

I just can't believe two I bought another hand held lemon/orange juicer ($1.60), lol, so now I have two (crazy).

I also placed the green handle biscuit cutter ($4.00), as you can see next to my many aluminum cookie cutter. I will need to find a bigger container for all those cookie cutters I love so much.😊

I was super happy to find a Prince Albert cigarettes' tin at a reasonable price of $3.20 or I thought it was a good price. I nestled the Prince Albert tin in with a few of my other tobacco tins and brown bottles.

I don't know why I picked up this cute small "Hull" pitcher ($4.00), I don't really collect Hull pottery. I do think the small pitcher looks nice with the brown pottery I have above the kitchen cabinets.

I really don't have much of a vintage doll collection, but this cute pair of farm dolls had a great price of $5.00 for the pair. I placed these very darling dolls on a dresser in the spare room.

When I saw three Colorado souvenir ash trays in a club shape, a diamond shape, and this spade shape ash tray($3.99 each) a little pricey for me to buy all three.

I felt the spade shape was the one to display with my other Colorado souvenir ash trays.

Little silver-plate cup ($2.50)and souvenir spoon ($2.00) is on the shelf with the other silver plate treasures.

It was a toss up, should the cup be in the grand kids room? displayed as a kid items? or display this cute silver plate cup with other like pieces?

Here it is on shelf with other liked treasures.

I really didn't need another green vase. The green vintage Randall bud vase is super cute ($3.00), I love green emerald glass, so there you go.....

I place this cute emerald green bud vase with my small collection of green bottles. Loving the copper treasure with the green bottles.

I'll be holding on to the insulator wooden screw pegs ($3.00 each) for a while, I have a project I have been wanting to do in the back yard garden.

I have been collecting vintage insulators and when ever I find a insulator wooden screw pegs, I pick them up, I was happy to have found three ($3.99)for the bundle.

I'm looking forward to get this project done this summer.
I picked up this  nickel plate Rayo oil lamp for $18.00, my plan is to upcycle the lamp to electric.

I have two other lamp I added the bulb socket and electric cord to, I'm still looking for a few pieces to complete these lamps - shade, shade ring, collar, etc..

It was great to get out of town and get a new perspective on life out side my small town and of course finding new stores to go thrifting and antiquing!
I want to thank you for checking in.  I hope to give you some inspiration to go out thrifting, you just never know what kind of one of a kind treasure you will find.

If you like the thrill of thrifting what are items you look for?

Please check back any time, I'm trying to post at least every two weeks, with thrift hauls, vignettes of where I show off my thrifted treasures, and a few peeks at my seasonal decorating in and outside my home..

So, until next time......

Vintage Silver-Plate and Pewter Touches on the Hutch - Decorate With Me for June

 Hi Friends,

Today, I'm decorating the hutch for June.

All I did was, packed up the rustic DIY rustic bird houses, diy bird nest and eggs.

I kept all the white faux florals,

Gathered up my collection of blueish vintage Ball canning jars to display on top of the hutch.

I moved around the white milk glass bud vases into different vignettes,

brought in some silver-plate items like the large platter, pedestal candy dish, and a pewter mug to the top of the hutch.

 *****
I stack the chrome/gray color, metal fishing box on top of the two green tackle boxes that were already on top of the hutch.

In the fishing box I gathered silver-plate cutlery my dad gave me and a couple of metal embroidery hoops.

*****
added a wore-out blue jean diy garland to the top of the hutch

*****
This vignette did not change much I added a pewter mug and pewter saucer and a Towle sterling silver candle stick.

*****

This vignette didn't change much, I rearranged the hens around a bit.

*****
I hope that I'm an inspiration to you to go out and thrift. You just never know what you may find.

I want to thank you for checking in, please checkback any time, I'm trying to post at least every two weeks, with a thrift haul and vignettes of where I have used my new vintage finds.

Until next time.............
