Out side banners 4th July

 Hi Friends,

HAPPY 4th of JULY

Today, I'm putting out red white and blue banners and flags around the outside for this special day. I got out the patriotic tub and looked over the banner. This one has seen better days, but I think I can use it this season.

This flag banner needed a quick face lift, the stripes had faded so with a little acrylic paint they look fresh again

I put another banner on the garden gate

Some of my older banners are starting to look pretty bad. I drove over to Walmart to see what they had for banner, the selection had been picked through.  Not much left, so I picked up four of the banners and two boxes of small flags

I hung one of the new banner on the back fence

and the other two on the front of the house

I want to thank you for checking and making my blog a part of your day. Please check back any time, I'm trying to post at least every two week, with thrift hauls, vignettes of where I show off my thrifted treasures, and a few picks at my seasonal home decorating in and outside my home.
Until next time....

Happy July 1st Been Thrifting Again - at a few Yard Sale -Oh My the Treasures I Found

 Hi Friends,

Today I went to 4 yard sales and was so surprised with yard sale prices!

Lanterns are on my list of treasure to look for and look I found "3" the large lantern $8.00 I was surprised that the two lanterns had the glass globes intact.  The small red for $3.00 and the little patriotic lantern $2.00 and had fuel in it.

Thermos are another item I look for, I believe I got the green Thermos free and I saw the larger water cooler, I paid $6.00 for it.

This green Thermos fit right in with the collection.

*****
1970 Anchor Hocking oil lamp is so cute I added it to a shelf in the corner of the kitchen. Note because I will be using the cute lamp as décor I replace the lamp oil with color water. Love It!

*****

Right now I have the cool green water jug sitting on the beverage cart. Going to use it for ice tea on '4th of July' afternoon get together to watch fireworks.

The lantern I'm pairing up with two other lanterns I've had for a while.

*****
Christmas platters for $1.00 each and the large plate is a 50's or 60's fiberglass Christmas planter.  I'll be stashing them away until Christmas.

*****
All of these item were thrown in for FREE!
I was so thrilled.

I'll be adding the church keys to the collection, for now I'm using this key rack to display my collection of vintage bottle openers.

*****
I have a vintage jar that needs a zinc milk glass lid.  I thought the lid would fit on the ATLAS Mason jar, but as you can see it didn't.

oops I need to dust

This Ball jar doesn't have much of a brim, but maybe the lid will fit.

*****
The pocket watch will be put into a vignette along with the advertisement change pocket for now on a night stand.

*****

The wire tray is for cooking over open fire, maybe for fish, so I'll be putting it into our camping gear.

*****
At another garage sale

I found a framed Snoopy picture $1.00, I have been a big fan since the late 60's of Snoopy items, I pick them up now and then if the price is right.

Also a blue because of the color, but not very aged book, but for $.50 I couldn't pass it up.

Also, at this yard sale, for $5.00 I picked up the shutters there red I think I'll paint them chalk paint even though I do like red. You'll have to stop by in a day or two to see how I'm using the shutters.

Yard Sale #3

I'm looking for Patriotic treasures right?  I was not disappointed. There were 3 to4 different patriotic patterned napkin set.

I picked up five red, white, and blue star napkins to use at the 4th of July get together to watch fire works.

The cute bibs I thought to frame them in grandkids bed room.
The green and orange yellow bandanas will be put away until fall.

Oh man the hair pins my mother used hairs like that
hair style.

*****
I just had to pick these three game books up, I think my vintage poker chip rack and dice make a nice vignette.

*****
Yard Sale #4
I didn't take a picture - they had boy clothes so I stopped and I did pick up 3 pair of nice wranglers pant and a John Deer sweat shirt for one of the grandsons for $4.00.

If you have checked a few of my post I do like Hens and Rooster. I spotted this beauty! $2.00

I place this beautiful wooden hen in the herb wagon, I herbs by seed aren't growing very fast as you can see.  I do have dill but the cilantro and parsley are kind of delayed.

Last item was this awesome Nursery Rhymes vintage book. I love the illustration in vintage books.

I want to thank you for making my blog part of your day, please check back any time. I'm trying to post at least every two weeks, with thrift hauls, vignettes of where I show off my thrifted treasures, and a few peek at my seasonal home decorating in and outside my home.

A Vintage Patriotic Vignette - Memorial Day-God Bless America!

Hi Friends,

This is a wonderful day to get together with Family and Friends to Celebration Men and Women that have given their lives to protect our Freedom in America.

Today I'm sharing a corner shelf with some of my favorite red, white, and blue treasure I gathered from around my house.

Include the two wonderful flags my 7 year-old grand-daughter drew for us I totally love them.

Around my home I have gathered some of my favorite Red, White, and Blue treasure to share with you and hope to inspire you to get shopping your home for items you treasure.

In this vignette you can see I gather some cobalt blue bottles and jars that I placed in a Kraft cheese wooden box.

I also remembered I had some poker chips in the right color, so I filled a red rim enamel cup (I had on top of the kitchen cabinets), with the porker chips.

I gather one candle stick from my set of Towle Sterling silver plate candle sticks, I love the patina on this piece and placed it into the vignette.

In the corner of my dinning area, you may have notice a nut or cheese grinder, when I was researching this great find, it is from the 1940's or 1950's, it has a hand crank, it was made by Federal Tool Chicago glass, the top piece is a measuring cup, I was super to find this great piece at the thrift store.

I just find this pair of  Salt &Pepper on Spring Break visiting my Daughter in Illinois, to celebrate her son's 1st birthday. You can check out the fun treasures I found while visiting. I love this set, they are marked, made in Japan and I believe their milk glass.

I've arranged and rearranged this corner shelf many times today, trying to find what makes me smile.

I think I figured it out. What do think? I would love to hear from you.

Patriotic Touches to the Hutch for July 2021 - Decorate with me.

Decorating the Hutch for July

Welcome Friends,

I chose stars as my focus this year.   I've been collecting metal and wooden star from Dollar Tree home décor item to repurpose.  My though process is to sand the glitter add some red, white, and blue paint to the star and scatter the star through out my décor as accents.

*****

I have added a few thrifted items I have collected and a couple of DIY's

*****

a little Spanish moss a diy burlap ball a few diy stars, thrifted aluminum drinking cup a vintage canning jar filled with vintage buttons,  I added some homespun and red and white flowers to a gallon glass jug I thrifted from a yard sale.

I don't think I will ever get tired of  using black and white checked touches.
the yellow hen and carved horse were thrifted

Here are a few of this years new items repurposed stars painted in standard red, white, and blue acrylic paint by delta, I purchase at Walmart.

I also added pip berries picks.

A couple of little American flags.

Thank you for stopping by my Little Colorado Cottage today, I hope I have given a few ideas of ways to add thrifted items to your July décor.

So until the next time.....
