November Vintage Harvest Touches on the Hutch

 Hi Friends,

I didn't really do much change on the top of the hutch just rearranged a few things, put away the sunflowers and scarecrows and pulled out the turkeys and pumpkins.

Thank you for stopping by My Little Colorado Cottage

This year I added a vintage hand made ceramic cornucopia, I bought at a goodwill over 30 years ago, filled it with dried Indian corn, dried pomegranate, faux apples.

I like how the new quail plate looks on top of the hutch with the pheasant picture and  a thrifted wooden turkey.

found enough alphabet blocks to spell out "Thanksgiving"

My Granddaughter salt painting, from preschool,( I just think it's perishes). Along with two vintage Avon wild Turkey cologne decanters

I've kept the dry floral, loving it added more pine corns and faux pumpkins here and there.

Seeing my mantel and hutch decorated for the month of November, I hope I have giving you a couple of ideas to inspire you to get out your thrifted item to display for November.

Until next post........

New Vintage Thrifted Treasures on the Mantel for November

 Hi Friends,

Thank you for stopping by, "My little Colorado Cottage".

November is "Thankful Harvest" month, now that the days are getting shorter and temperature in my area during the day is a crisp 40* at the peek of day, my Autumn/Fall décor changes a little.

Today I'm changing up the mantel, changing out the scare crows and cigar boxes for pumpkins for November.

Center of the mantel I left the awesome fly geese pewter platter on the window frame.  I took away the cigar boxes and replaced them with a hand cared pedestal wooden bowl and filled it with small faux pumpkins
*****

For the month of November harvest, I wanted to add a few wheat bundles to the mantel, I grabbed two green bottles from my collection on the hutch to display the wheat stalks on the mantel.

*****

I did leave the new brass quail and new cheese crock I found this year,
brought back a couple of pottery crocks, added terra cotta pots and upcycled "Dollar Tree" faux pumpkins.

*****

I moved the thrifted handled bucket with lid to the mantel and topped it with a thrifted willow pumpkin

*****

I love my diy felt crows so I left her in the vine wreath grouping.

*****
I love this new Avon mug so I added a sheet of yellow construction paper to the inside to help show up the geese flying on the mug.

*****
I kept the brown crock vase and broth out a few of my dried Indian corn to display in the pottery

*****
I also kept the sunflower print I love it

*****
Took away some of the florals and replaced faux pumpkins

*****
I loved the way the platter look I'll keep it up through Thanksgiving weekend

I really love how it all turned out and I was able to incorporated some of my vintage treasures.
***
I would love to hear from you about how you have displayed your vintage collection
***
I do hope I have given you some inspirational ideas on how you might incorporate your vintage collections through-out your home.

Friday Thrift - Looking for Vintage Thanksgiving Décor

 Hi Friends,

My plan is to get started pulling out some of my November décor this weekend.

I stopped in at local thrift to look for Thanksgiving treasure.

I found a few Fall-ish treasures .

Four vintage "Mallard Ducks low ball wide bottom whiskey cocktail glasses $1.50 each

aren't they cool looking, to use in the Fall months?

*****

I also found a Avon 1981 Chesapeake Flying Canadian mug/stein for $3.00 would have liked to find a few more, but for now I think Ill add this mug to my Mantel display

*****

I do not normally pick up white and blues pieces, however, this mug has rooster and hens print on it it doesn't look blue in the picture more black print, I paid $1.00.

Has rooster/hen print on both sides, I'll be using this mug for coffee in summer.

Stamped on the bottom - Classic Ceramic California pantry 2002 made in China

*****
The small pine cone wreath I paid $1.00 I'll save it for Christmas décor next month, maybe add a little red pip berries, what do you think

*****
I've seen others on social media picking up brass birds and since I've decorated for Fall with fowl, I thought I take a chance at $4.50 and brought home this solid brass quail paper weight.

on the bottom there is a sticker made in Korea.
What do you think did I pay to much?
*****

I just picked up one, there were a total of four, I just don't collect to many plates, I really don't have room, LOL, I collect to many other treasures.

isn't it a awesome salad plate with a pair of quails for $.50
on the back it was stamped

Furnivals 1913
 Quail
Made in England
R&N 8 477

Should I go back and get the other three? I could use them as desert plate at Christmas? Maybe.

*****

Lastly, found a great necklace $2.50 it's real heavy (maybe cast) with light blue stone or beads on the edge of the leaf.

The circular brooch for a $1.00, I'm thinking I could attach a stone or picture on it.

My only granddaughter loves dressing up and clip on earrings are easy for her to use so I picked up this pair for $1.00

Thank you for stopping by "My Little Colorado Cottage" to see what I have been doing this weekend.

I do hope I have given you some inspirational ideas of what I look for or how I incorporate thrifted found treasure into my home.

I would love to hear from you and let me know what you collect and how you display your collection.

Fall Cottage Garden Clean-up

 Hi Friends,

For the past couple of days I've been working in the garden, I felt the need to clean up the debris in the garden the temperature are high 50's low wind.

Mother Nature gave us a warning a week and half ago with our first snow a week and a half ago, the high had been upper 30's

# First on my agenda is to plant the mums-

I bought mid-October, thinking I would plant them in pots on the front porch, but the night temperature drop so fast I didn't get the chance. I stuck the mums under deck and covered them and a few other perennials still in bloom with frost cloth, until I found time, as I've mention "Today is the Day".

# Second-planted Iris bulbs-

Last month I dug up Iris bulbs I had planted up against the house put the bulbs in boxes, until I had time to replant them.

"Today is the day!" to get them transplanted some where in the back yard where they could get more sun light.

# Third-Clean up the frost cloth-

debris in the garden area, folding up the frost cloth

# Fourth-clean up vegetable debris-

I had cucumbers planted by the deck here, didn't really grow well

I had tomatoes and corn planted in this bed it has been cleaned up and ready for winter

cleaned up the pumpkin vines and folded up the frost cloth

Working on the last vegetable beds, pulling up all the left over,  over grown plants.

# Fifth-empty potted plant and stack pots-

all the potted flowers pots are stacked for winter

#sixth cover the new planted bulbs with straw-

covering the perennial flower beds with straw

put straw on the hen and chicks

I have a couple of pots of spearmint that I'm trying to over winter with out it spreading. I put a layer of straw and covered pot with burlap grain sacks will see in the spring if it worked!

Thank you for stopping by, I 'm just putting my garden to bed for the winter and hoping all the new plants will survive our harsh winter.
So......
until the next post.
