Valentine's Day Card Making

Hi Friends,

This project is always one of my favorite craft to do in February.

When my girls were elementary school age, they loved getting out the construction paper, glitter, dollies, and stickers to make valentines for their classmates.

This year I thought it would be fun for the grand kids to make their own valentine cards for school.

For the past few weekends, I have gotten out the construction paper, glitter glue, stickers and scissor, for the grand kids to make their valentines this year for their classmates.

This is their final product minus the suckers that they will add
.  The oldest grandson wrote the poem, "Roses are Red, Violets are Blue, Honey is Sweet and so are you," with colored gel pens.
The second oldest grandson wanted to use gel pens and stickers to decorate his cards.
And the youngest grandson which is 5, I cut out hearts, let him write his name and put sticker on them.

I had thought ahead and bought 2 bags of heart shape suckers from the dollar tree, but you guessed it I
didn't have enough so I went through the candy stash and found some smarties to put in the middle of the heart shape card to make it look like a butterfly.  60 cards in all were sent to school with the grandson on Valentine's Day morning.

Our morning started a little early around 6:00 am The Grand kids open the presents under the tree they were so excited but were very respective to other while they opened their presents.
Our Christmas morning breakfast consisted of biscuits and gravy, one of our favorite breakfasts, hoping it would keep the tummies full until Christmas dinner.

My 2016 Christmas Tour, so to speak

This year my decor changed a bit, I was striving for old country, woodland feeling, with more green garland and checks, but also leave the glitter and sparkle that my husband like.  So here is a peek, I also moved a few vignettes around so that little finger can not touch.

Here is a little vignette of the Islands of Miss-Fit Toys.  The lighted tree I purchased from a Home Decor Party quite some time ago like 20 years.  Does any one remember Home Decor home parties? The ornaments in this vignette, I have picked up at yard sales or thrift store.
This year I moved the white feathered tree to the living room on the top of the entertainment center.  I believe I purchased the feathered tree at an auction, several  years ago. The wooden ornaments I started collecting when I moved out on my own.

Also on the top of the entertainment center is the snowy village. The village pieces came unpainted from the craft  department of Wal-Mart, I believe at least ten years ago.  I put a five piece battery operated train in front of the snowy village, that I bought at Ace Hardware, many years ago.  The string of blue light came from The Dollar Tree this year, I think the lights were a nice touch.

The nativity scene I thrift-ed a few years ago, I put on a high shelve of the living room entertainment center, high enough to stay out of the way of little fingers.

Here are the Grand Kids rearranging the ornament this was the biggest challenge this year.  What are you going to do?  It was great to have them during Christmas break.

Have a Wonderful.

Cooler days, full moon, It's October! Changing my Outside Decor

Right by the front door sits the headless scare crow, his head vibrates and the eyes blink, and holding our carved pumpkins this year is my great aunt Rosie's' wheelbarrow.

Purple spider patiently eating her prey

Headless scarecrow at night quite scary.

Here is my spooky eye ball wreath I made a couple of years ago.

Thank you for stopping by, and catching up with me.

September is party time

September is a very busy month in our family, last camping trip of the summer, garden harvesting, with back to school, routines, and birthday celebrations.

This week we had a combined birthday party for my granddaughter who turned three and a grandson that turned seven. I decided that my guest list would be families that live on our street that the grand kids play with, so I invited about six families. I looked in my party supply box and found this paint splotches pattern and decided on a paint theme.  I also had some extra blue snack napkins and blue solo cup that I had left over from Fourth of July.

I set up a card table with individual poster board and brushes from the Dollar Tree for a painting activity.  I had tempera paint in primary colors and had the kids mix colors to get green and purple I think they had more fun mixing colors than painting on the poster board.

The next activity was silly string, I gave each friend a can of silly string to spray at each other they had a great time.

The menu consisted of roast beef, ham, turkey, and cheese sub-sandwiches, from City Market and my husband sliced up tomatoes, onions, and lettuce to add to subs, I made my grandmothers' potato salad and my sisters' macaroni salad recipe and couple choices of chips and dip.  And of course condiments ofcatsup, mustard, mayo, pickles.

Our seven year old grandson requested Ice cream cake for his birthday. We have a TGIF store in town, so I tried there first, but they don't sell ice cream cakes any more.  Someone suggested Walmart has ice cream cakes,so I headed to Walmart and bought an ice cream cake and to my surprise it was decorated with colorful sprinkle to go with the party theme.

All in all the party went very well with having such an age difference at this wonderful event.  I believe everyone that came had a good time.

Have a Great Day,

Farmhouse Vignette using Felt Shamrocks

Hi Friends,

Today I decided to make a green felt shamrock garland for one of my little shelf.  I always have felt on hand to craft with so, I made a template from light weight cardboard, that I thought would be the right size and traced out shamrocks from the green felt and cut them out.  For a little  dimension I attached little white hearts on the petals of the clover.

Once the shamrocks were glued and dry I added a little glitter glue around the little white hearts.

Then I glued the stems to petals to attach the shamrocks

I also put some of the shamrocks on a pipe cleaner as a stem.

Simple project, cutting out all the shamrocks took a bit of time

Fairly easy project , I think the shamrock turned out nice and added a bit of color to my March décor

Thank you for stopping by to see what I have been doing. So until the next project, take care and God Bless you and your family.

August Sunflowers in my Late Summer Vignettes

Hi Friends,

I have a few late August vignettes to share with you today.

In a few vignettes in the den I have added sunflower florals with some yellow shredded paper for filler. I have been collecting vintage bottles for a long time I love these aqua bottles.

I place a couple of roosters in this wine box added some raffia and a few sprigs of sunflowers and pip berries.

Just another vignette a canning jar I filled with shredded yellow paper and added a yellow homespun fabric bow and floral.

I have a small collection of cigar boxes and this King Edward cigar box I added a vintage glass fishing net ball and some floral to make up this late summer vignette.

It was great to get some of my August sunflowers displayed around my house for late Summer décor.

Thank you for checking out some of my ideas to use collectibles in and around the home.

So until the next project. May God bless you and your family.

My Out Door Happy Place

Hi Friends,

It's another glorious day here at My Little Colorado Cottage.

This is the cottage gate to my happy place, my garden.

Today I just had to show off a few blooms in garden, these blooms make me happy!

This wired milk crate is one of my yard sale finds this summer and I thought it would be a great planter for annuals.

My yard is always a working in progress.  Some of the perennials I planted last summer are coming up nicely this year.

I'm going for a kind of rustic,  kind of cottage, and kind of rural feel to my outdoor living space

What do think?  Thank you for checking out my outdoor happy place.

May God bless you and your family.

Have a wonderful day! I'm Vicki the Colo-Junkett

Late Summer Vignettes in my Kitchen - Using Vintage a Tin, Box and a Box Grater

Hi Friends,

I've been putting together a few late summer vignettes in my kitchen.

I have added sunflower to a vintage America Cheese box I have placed on a shelf above my kitchen cabinet, that I found at a auction years ago.

I also added some sunflowers to this beautiful blue tin I received form a friend a few years ago among a few of my vintage hens and roosters collection.

I hope I have given you some ideas and tips on how to display some of your vintage collectibles.

So until next time,
God Bless you and your family.
