Shopping For Vintage Treasures-Friday Thrift Haul

Hi Friends,
 I'm so glad your here!

Today, I'm so excited to share What I found out thrifting this week.

My first stop this week was my local community thrift store.  There really wasn't much Valentine items  to dig through, but I did find the aluminum cookie cutter in one of the boxes.

I walked over to the glass shelving, were all the small figurines and breakables are displayed and spotted the super cute hand fired, hand painted ceramic
 trinket container! so adorable.

*****
A couple of days ago I stopped by the other thrift store in town that carries more vintage items, their places have double in the past year, but occasionally I do find treasure for under $10.00

*****
First I spotted a face cream Milk-Glass jar w/a plastic tan lid, in the front window of the Vintage-Thrift Store, I'm thinking it's Avon , couldn't find a mark.  I thought it looked great as a riser for a pink depression glass creamer in this Valentine vignette in the China Cabinet.

*****
I also found a few great vintage books for a $1.00 a piece

*****
This super cool wooden hinged box was wrapped in foil
and there was a cloth bottom, I looked it up.

*****
Oh my! I found some very cool "President Trivia Cards"
Oh my! I found some very cool "President Trivia Flash Cards"
They look GREAT in this corner shelf.

*****
As a small child I remember getting these jelly jars, I like Grape Jelly the best! I pick up these cute little jars when I see them because they are usually price at $.25-$1.00.
I have recently are using these cute jars for snippets of plant to grow the roots

*****

Lastly, the best find this week were this adorable pair of 'Dutch-inspired  Souvenir Dolls'.

These cuties were not priced, So the owner said what about $10.00, I'm not good at all haggling a price, so I paid the ten dollars. This  amazing pair will go into my small doll collection.

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to stop by to see what treasures I have found out thrifting this week.

I would love to hear what you have found thrifting and how you style it in your home.

Sunday, Just Crafting-Chilling-Enjoying a Great Day!

Hi Friends,

I'm so glad your here, today!

I've been working on a simple homemade craft this past week, I thought I would share.

Last Summer I thrifted a box with winter garland that had red velvet bows and some red flocked ribbon, so I thought I could make Heart picks to add here and there this Valentine season.

using a paper template I traced out quite a few small hearts

using bamboo skewers at different lengths glued two hearts back to back.

***
Today's temperature almost hit 40 degrees this afternoon.  I literally, dug the chairs out under snow and enjoy the sunshine for a couple of hours.

***

We still have quite a bit of snow here in 'NW Colorado'
This photo is the snow on the roof of the house that faces NW and doesn't get much sun to melt the snow and our nights are minus zero.

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to stop by to see how this simple craft project turned out this week.

I would love to hear what you are crafting, or do you get out side this weekend?

 So until my next post......

Vintage-Inspired Embellished Thrifted Heart Box

Hi Friends,

I'm so happy you stopped by "My Little Colorado Cottage" today.

***
Because, if you read my Friday thrifting post, you know I found a cute heart shaped trinket box.

***
I'm so excited today to be sharing how I have embellished the thrifted heart trinket box to fit into my cottage/country décor this weekend!

Link the Thrift Haul

I took the little red foam heart off the lid of the box and covered the lid with sheet music

I had in my craft-stash from another

I like using fabric in some of  my crafts, I have quite a bit of yardage of this nice red stripe fabric so decided to cover the foam heart with it....

then, added a little bit of red rick-rack in between the stripes to change it up a bit.

while all was drying I painted the base of the box with flat red acrylic paint

Next, step was to glue the cloth covered heart back onto the lid.

All in all, this cute trinket box turned out pretty nice, I'm thinking thought it may need something more, but not sure yet...... stay tuned.

Thrifting for Vintage Treasures

Hi Friends,

I'm so happy you stopped by "My Little Colorado Cottage" today

Yes!, I did go thrifting this week, there was not much new on the shelves, but I did bring home a few interesting treasure to use in my home décor.

***

I just could not past up this glass mug, a vintage pheasant, Princess House Colonial glass beer mug 1970's

If you remember my Fall décor, I kind of gravitated toward Birds.... Quail, Ducks, Geese, and Pheasants.

so, this great mug will be housed in the China Hutch until next Fall when I will be using the mug in my Fall décor.

When I spied this heart shape box I thought I could cover it with fabric like I did to this cute heart box.

A Rustic Vintage Heart Shape Keepsake Box

So, you will have to stop back by to see how I add a few embellishment to fit into my cottage décor.

*****

I found this bag of wire hooks and eye screws for $1.00
I removed the hooks I had and added the copper tint hooks to this shelf in the quest bath-room, where I display my some of my copper pieces.

I like how the hooks look, it adds a nice touch.

*****

I'm not sure if I have mentioned but Pewter is one of the treasures I will pick-up when I see a Pewter piece.

This glass bottom mug had a little weight to it, when I looked it up it was listed on Esty as a 'Vintage Pewter Glass Bottom Tanker Whistling Mug" 1960's. Not really sure what Whistling Mug means, but I loved it!

*****

This was a small 'Thrift Haul', however, I think I found some great treasures, that will be incorporated into my home and seasonal décor

Vintage Inspired February Décor

Hi Friends,

I'm so happy you stopped by 'My Little Colorado Cottage' today!
It's February 1st and time to add a little Valentine décor. The month I'm starting with the guest-room High-Boy.

I've gathered together a few heart shape items, I have thrifted lately to incorporate with my February/Valentine Décor

*****
These items were recent purchases for the local 'Community Budget Thrift'.

The shell heart box had no marking on it but was lined in red felt.  The footed trinket box was handmade with a mark of 1974

This cute footed hat pin vase was also thrifted I added a dried rose to this grouping

***

The pretty pin was in a grab-bag I purchase for $2.50

This cute vintage Valentine, I found on a trip out of town and on the back it has writing To Alice From Grace '1929'.

Isn't this vintage Winter scene beautiful?  I found this amazing framed print at my local vintage/thrift store for $1.00 about a month ago.

***

Lastly, the curio shelf I thrifted at a yard sale for $1.00, all of the cute little vintage bottle I've been collecting over the years, the most I will pay is $2.00 a bottle.
