Autumn/Fall on the Hutch- Decorate With Me

Hi Friends,

Today I'm trying to find a focus for the hutch. I loved orangy-yellow, rusty-red, and the browns I used on the mantel.

Then I remembered I thrifted a quilt panel of a pair of pheasants! Perfect!

First, I gathered the quilt panel, a two tone cream/brown flat fold I thrifted this Summer.

It took me sometime to think through how I was going to display or hang this quilt panel, I dug out of a closet this faux window frame that might work.

I decided to stretch the two tone fabric over the frame just using duck tape for a quick fix.

with needle and thread tacked down the quilt panel

staying with the same orangy-yellow, rusty-reds and darker yellow tones in this frame.

got into the Autumn/Fall tub for the fall leaf garland

I've kept the green tackle boxes, the wire basket of green apples

and the blue canning jars and vintage juice jug that I have had displayed on the top of the hutch for awhile.

For this season, I had been thinking about using more dried floral than faux.

The garden this year is starting to prepare for cooler days and nights, so I gathered  yarrow, zinnia's, poppy pods, and sunflower, to make the floral in the Ball Jar and juice jugs

Then, added a scarecrow I made a couple of weeks ago

next, I thought a grouping of amber bottles would add the darker tone I was looking for

but the tray of amber bottles was lost in this grouping, so I added a riser.

even with the riser the tray of bottles are lost.... so I rearranged the apples

added a small basket for now.

Now the right side of the hutch needed something, I brought in the cute little green vase I thrifted this Spring to balance out the green of the apples, filled with dried yarrow, sunflower, poppy pods, and zinnias

However, I think this grouping is looking cluttered couldn't see all of the jars..... so, I trimmed the dried floral and rearranged the jars

I changed it again rearranged jars, added a scarecrow

I think this grouping is looking better, I felt there needed to be more so I gathered up pip berries and scattered them around with pine cones

Finally, using my collection of Children's ABC wooden block I built the word AUTUMN

I love how the hutch looks, what do you think?

Have I inspired you to maybe incorporate dried florals or little treasures from Mother Earth this year?

Thank you for checking in on what I have been up to. I would love to hear what you think of my autumn décor focus this year,

May God Bless You and Your Family,

  1. I really enjoyed your showing us how you "edited" the arrangement til you thought it looked right. I often make a silk/dried flower arrangement or wreathe and then leave it til the next day. Then I look for bare spots that need something; it works for me!
