February is Fast Approaching - Decorate with Me

 Hi Friends,

February is fast approaching and I need to get some of my February décor put up.  This year I 'm keeping my Winter Décor up. I like the cozy warm feeling with my 'Winter Décor.'

The Den

I brought out some of my years past February DIY's.   Here in the den, I just stuck these felt hearts I made a few years back, into a hurricane cloche along with the pinecones setting in a tobacco box I had out for my 'Winter Décor.'

The Spanish moss wreath added a nice touch to the red shelves along with the red wooden-bead charm.

I placed white snowflake around to bring in the snowy cozy winter day on the red shelves where I display a couple of vintage cigar boxes.

This year I tried to distress the edges of the DIY conversation hearts to tone the white down some.

I don't think it turned out to bad.  I definitely need some practice using the distressing technique

Another conversation heart I distressed a little

Another wooden heart I added a little distress ink hoping to age it a bit to tone down the stark white I was seeing.

On the hutch

I added some of my favorite DIY's from the past. I also like using chalk boards here and there throughout my home for all seasons.

Thank you for stopping by to see some of my Valentine vignettes, stop by next week to see more.

May God Bless you and Your Family.

Thrifting for Treasures

Hi Friends,

February is here again and I have the itch to visit my local thrift store.  My main reason is to find some discounted Valentine items, but if something catches my eye I may bring it home.

Years ago I decorated with copper items but they were super expensive.  Lately I have seen copper items showing up in the farmhouse décor, so I picked up these copper jello mold  for  $2.00 each.

I figure I can never have enough paper heart dollies for $0.30 around, with kids in the house.

I don't think this valentine package is vintage, however when do you ever see Woody the Woodpecker item?  So I had to pick this item up for $2.00.

I picked up these very darling hot pads for 25 cents a pieces

A metal box either a cash box or a fishing box, but how cool! I paid $5.00.  Not sure how I will be displaying these items, but will keep you informed.

Thank you so much for taking your time to stop by and see what I have been up to.

Until next time, God Bless You,

Vicki a Colorado Junkett

DYI- Thrifted Heart Shape Twig Wreath

A thrift heart shape wreath, I believe I paid $.50 from my January 2019 Thrift Haul

I removed as much of the old hot glue and greenery as I could, I also trimmed up the center twigs.  I had some left over Spanish moss from another project, using Aleene's Tacky Glue, I applied the moss to the wreath.  When the moss applied wreath was dry I attached the burlap ribbon bow  with hot glue.

I really like how this project turned out.

Thank you for stopping by,
Vicki

Rustic Farmhouse Valentine Conversational Hearts Diy

Hello Friends,
I have another rustic farmhouse project from a thrift, paper heart banner I picked up in January.

The heart were pink with glitter and as you know I'm not much into glitter so, I painted all six heart with Waverly white chalk paint, it two coats.

I used Sharpie fine point markers to free write the saying and added the doodles.

Added a red felt heart then glued a wooden heart shape painted white that I used stencil to write X O, and free hand arrows around edge.

With this cute heart I used a black Sharpie, to free hand the word and vine, added a checked fabric bow.

Another heart I just used black and red Sharpie markers wrote Be Mine then free hand the little heart vine

The last heart I added a large fabric heart and glued a small red felt heart in center and then added a little doodle around the edge.

I think the finish project turn out quit cute.

Thank you for stopping by,
Vicki

Valentine Decor DYI - Button Hearts

From my thrift haul in January, I pick a set of three paper hearts on a ribbon to use for this project.

I decided to paint them with Waverly white chalk paint.  I have a stash of buttons and choose colors of white, tan, pale pink, and faded red. Then I glued them about a quarter inch in from edge.

This is how I used the hearts in my February decor.  On my coat closet I have hung a small twig wreath and added one of the hearts.

This year I'm using a lot of the black and white check material in my decor.  Here I took a picture frame added the black and white check material to the card board backing of the frame and attached a button heart on the material, I also added a heart from a material I have in my stash.

I think this project turned out nicely and didn't cost me much.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Seasonal DYI - Red and White Yarn Pom Pom Garland

One of my DYI for February were these red and white yarn pom poms.  I believe there 1" in diameter.  I tried each pom pom to a length of yarn to make a garland for my mantel and one of my old windows.

I really like this new addition to my seasonal decor, I may use these pom pom garlands in July.
Did you made a DYI for your February decor?

Thank you for stopping by and have a Great Day.  Vicki

Heart Banner Tutorial

When I have some time on the weekend I love to work on some easy crafts for my rustic farmhouse look.  The last two Saturdays I've been working on a small heart banner that I saw on Pinterest saved from www.catchmyparty.com.  I always have felt squares around and I have seen crafters using burlap ribbon.

So here was my project..

I had the red, white, and pink felt squares and started cutting three sizes of hearts to layer all I saw was a lot of white.

I had bought a couple of rolls of burlap ribbon from the dollar tree.  I really didn't have a plan for the burlap when I bought it.   I tried to incorporate the burlap and thought the burlap gave the hearts a rustic feel.  Once I had all the heart cut and glued.  I decided to brush them with watered down Elmer's Glue.

What a mistake, it took several day for the glue to dry and the burlap separated and started to curl up.
I laid out the hearts on plastic wrap and put books on them for a couple of days to flatten out the hearts

that did the trick then I just used my glue gun and attached jute to the back to make the banner.

This is the finished project, I think it turned out okay and it gives a little bit of color to the front of my fireplace and mantel.

I hope this gives you some inspiration to add some color to your decor for February.

Have a Wonderful Day!

Happy Valentine's Day

I didn't have class today, so I decided that this was a great day to make cookies!

I used the recipe that called for one box cake mix,1/2 cup of cooking oil, and two eggs, bake @350* for 10 minutes let cool.  I made a powder sugar icing added a little red food coloring to make it pink.  I also added a few drops of red food coloring to a 1/4 cup of white sugar to sprinkle on top in the shape of a heart using a small heart shape cookie cutter. I think they turned out great!

Did you make cookie today?

Happy Valentine's Day

Vintage Decor for February

Hi, and thanks for stopping by....

Today is February first and I'm making a list of important things going on this month.

MC910221023[1]

Activity List for February

  • My birthday month
  • Valentines Day
  • February décor
  • Valentine Day Cookies
  • New Valentine Décor Projects
I also thought I would show some of my past seasonal decorations I have stored in tubs for February.

I always have eucalyptus stem in my décor through out winter.  I also keep out the red candles from Christmas.

In this little vignette I have grouped some white pip berries and red and green eucalyptus stem together with two vintage post cards into one of my vintage cigar box on my entry way table.

This shelf is a substitute for a fireplace mantel which I do not have. I have place old bottles filled red seeds, several red hearts of varies sizes an old rusty can, white pip berries, old books and a Vintage Star Tobacco box.

On the table under the red shelf I have a small collection of vintage cigar boxes I have collected over the years. The red felt heart bowl filler is a sewing project I started this month.

The banner is another project I made this month.  I used red ribbon and red felt hearts trimmed in glitter and made copies of my vintage post cards to add to the banner.

What’s on your list for February? Until next time may

God Bless you and your Family,
