Rustic Farmhouse Valentine Wreath for the Front Door

Took a Dollar Tree tinsel, glittery wreath wrapped it with a roll of burlap ribbon also from Dollar Tree.

For the bows, I used 2" red burlap ribbon and 1.5" wired brown burlap ribbon from dollar tree.  I believe the 1.5" red & tan check and  7/8" black & white checked ribbon came from Craft Outlet. I cut 6" lengths of all the ribbon.

Then I layered red burlap add from my stash raffia and a couple of single strand of pip berries

wired burlap ribbon, red and tan ribbon and last the black and white ribbon
used some twine to tie up and attached to this finished bow to the wreath.

I always try and keep some light weight card stock/board that I get from cereal boxes for templates.

So I used the cereal box cardboard and cut out three hearts large medium, small for this fabric heart accent for the wreath. I used the black striped flat fold fabric that comes in this bundle from Wal-Mart, also red burlap ribbon and a aged book page.

I'm cutting out two heart from the fabric because, I'm making a little heart pillow. The first layer of the hear pillow is the black stripped fabric,

then the red burlap heart is a little smaller,

The third and last heart is cut from aged book paper.

Glue the three layer, I used Aleene's Tacky Glue and let it all dry completely.

I said I was making pillow hearts, so I added a cotton ball for batting.

With embroidery thread I used a blanket stitch around the edge to close up the heart pillow.

A finished little heart pillow.

I like how this project turned out.
Thank you for stopping by.......until the next project.

God Bless You, Vicki

$1.50 Thrift Store Find for February - Vintage Pat and Pam Creative Charms kit

Hello Friends,
Today I'm sharing another project from a item I found at my local thrift store.

Remember my thrift haul back in February I picked up a vintage three piece Pat and Pam Creative Charm kit for a $1.50. At the time I wasn't sure how to incorporate the charms into my February decor. Then realized I could add fabric and add the charm to a string of bead.

I had a tough time getting the fabric over the little teeth

I finally got all three charms covered and the back snapped on.

Wrapping the jute twine around my fingers to forming a circle

Using another piece of twine to wrap around the end to make a hook, and cut the other end to make a fray.

Using red bead I thrift in February haul, I cut the twine the length I thought would need feed it threw the charm clasp and added the red beads about twenty and added tassel

I embellish the top of the charm with a small fabric heart and a button

This project turned out pretty nice.Thank you for stopping by to see what I have been up to.  So until the next project......

May God Bless you, Vicki

DYI- Thrifted Heart Shape Twig Wreath

A thrift heart shape wreath, I believe I paid $.50 from my January 2019 Thrift Haul

I removed as much of the old hot glue and greenery as I could, I also trimmed up the center twigs.  I had some left over Spanish moss from another project, using Aleene's Tacky Glue, I applied the moss to the wreath.  When the moss applied wreath was dry I attached the burlap ribbon bow  with hot glue.

Rustic Farmhouse Valentine Conversational Hearts Diy

Hello Friends,
I have another rustic farmhouse project from a thrift, paper heart banner I picked up in January.

The heart were pink with glitter and as you know I'm not much into glitter so, I painted all six heart with Waverly white chalk paint, it two coats.

I used Sharpie fine point markers to free write the saying and added the doodles.

Added a red felt heart then glued a wooden heart shape painted white that I used stencil to write X O, and free hand arrows around edge.

With this cute heart I used a black Sharpie, to free hand the word and vine, added a checked fabric bow.

Another heart I just used black and red Sharpie markers wrote Be Mine then free hand the little heart vine

The last heart I added a large fabric heart and glued a small red felt heart in center and then added a little doodle around the edge.

I think the finish project turn out quit cute.

Valentine Decor DYI - Button Hearts

From my thrift haul in January, I pick a set of three paper hearts on a ribbon to use for this project.

I decided to paint them with Waverly white chalk paint.  I have a stash of buttons and choose colors of white, tan, pale pink, and faded red. Then I glued them about a quarter inch in from edge.

This is how I used the hearts in my February decor.  On my coat closet I have hung a small twig wreath and added one of the hearts.

This year I'm using a lot of the black and white check material in my decor.  Here I took a picture frame added the black and white check material to the card board backing of the frame and attached a button heart on the material, I also added a heart from a material I have in my stash.

I think this project turned out nicely and didn't cost me much.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Valentine DYI- my take on buffalo check heart

Hi friends welcome to another DYI!

I had a plain wooden heart I picked up in my January thrift haul  for $ .50

I painted the entire heart using white acrylic paint.  Then using 1" making tape I laid out the tape 1" apart, next I painted the heart gray, just mixing white and black acrylic paint together.

Letting the piece dry after painting the white and gray, I applied black acrylic paint for the final step.

Here is the unveiling, I reused the masking tape so in this picture it looks like I really got mixed up with the stripe, but there is still more tape to pull off.

This is my attempt to paint a "Buffalo Check" pattern, I did have to touch up a little, I suggest using new masking tape with each color

Here is the finished project, I added a red felt heart and topped with a small red felt heart glued on a large burlap heart glued on a larger red felt heart heart left over from a I made last year.  I place the heart on my mantel leaning against a silver color charger I thrifted.  I think this project turned out great.

One of my DYI for February were these red and white yarn pom poms.  I believe there 1" in diameter.  I tried each pom pom to a length of yarn to make a garland for my mantel and one of my old windows.

I really like this new addition to my seasonal decor, I may use these pom pom garlands in July.
Did you made a DYI for your February decor?

DYI - Valentine Wreath "'Dollar Tree" make over

Using a grapevine wreath I had, I added some of the Black and White Checked material and thin red ribbon and wrapped around the grapevine wreath.
Next I added some of the little wooden hearts that I bought at "The Dollar Tree" that were a welcome sign and chalk painted white

and also added the letters to spell the word love from the yard of  black and white checked fabric, using stencils I had in my craft supply box.

I used wide popsicle stick from Walmart and laid out the letter heart out and glued to popsicle stick, then attached it to the ribbon on the grapevine wreath to get a

I added a bow made from the 2 inch wired burlap ribbon from "The Dollar Tree "store and a 2 inch strip of the black and white checked fabric.  I think I should have added another black and white checked ribbon on top of the burlap bow.

I hope I gave you some decor  ideas to implement into your home decor for February.

February 2019 Will Soon Be Here!

When it comes to seasonal decorating, I pull out the bins and see what I have and right now my Valentine Decor is pink or red, white and a little burlap accents.
I made a red felt/burlap heart banner for the mantel a couple of years ago

I have a few items from Dollar Tree.

Red and white felt "Happy Valentine" Banner I made last year.

Next step is to go check in with a couple of amazing You-Tube crafters that I follow, to see what the tend is for this years season.

Buffalo check and Burlap are part of every DYI project I see for Valentine Farmhouse Decor this year.

I'm definitely going to be including some black and white check hearts into my February decor.

I found the black and white checked material at my local fabric store, I picked up 2 yard.

Stay tune to see what DYI's I come up with this year.

Thank you for stopping by,
Vicki
