Weekend Thrifting for Treasures

Hi Friends,

Weekend thrifting at my local thrift store, I came home with a few treasure.
I'm always on the lookout for rolling pins wooden trinket boxes, little salt box houses, candle sticks, pewter, old silver items, salt and pepper shakers, and fabric items (hot pads, dish towels, yardage, placemats ) etc.

I found a rolling pin for $5.00 "CHECK"!

A pewter platter for $4.00

some little salt box houses, so cute "CHECK"!

Who knew about these small brass bowls, I do have brass candle sticks and a brass bucket so maybe I'm starting a new collect? "Who knows".

This cute little kids spoon caught my eye, I have a small collection of vintage spoons.

A wooden trinket box "CHECK"!

I found some great items! Next post I'll let you see how I display them around my house.

Thank you so much for stopping by to see what I have been up to.

So until next time....

May God Bless You and Your Family.

Rustic Farmhouse Valentine Wreath for the Front Door

Took a Dollar Tree tinsel, glittery wreath wrapped it with a roll of burlap ribbon also from Dollar Tree.

For the bows, I used 2" red burlap ribbon and 1.5" wired brown burlap ribbon from dollar tree.  I believe the 1.5" red & tan check and  7/8" black & white checked ribbon came from Craft Outlet. I cut 6" lengths of all the ribbon.

Then I layered red burlap add from my stash raffia and a couple of single strand of pip berries

wired burlap ribbon, red and tan ribbon and last the black and white ribbon
used some twine to tie up and attached to this finished bow to the wreath.

I always try and keep some light weight card stock/board that I get from cereal boxes for templates.

So I used the cereal box cardboard and cut out three hearts large medium, small for this fabric heart accent for the wreath. I used the black striped flat fold fabric that comes in this bundle from Wal-Mart, also red burlap ribbon and a aged book page.

I'm cutting out two heart from the fabric because, I'm making a little heart pillow. The first layer of the hear pillow is the black stripped fabric,

then the red burlap heart is a little smaller,

The third and last heart is cut from aged book paper.

Glue the three layer, I used Aleene's Tacky Glue and let it all dry completely.

I said I was making pillow hearts, so I added a cotton ball for batting.

With embroidery thread I used a blanket stitch around the edge to close up the heart pillow.

A finished little heart pillow.

I like how this project turned out.
Thank you for stopping by.......until the next project.

God Bless You, Vicki

Valentine Rustic Mantel - Decorate with Me

Hi Friends,

Not much new this year so far,  I  added quit a few new items last year to my February décor.

To start off my decorating for February, I'm starting with the mantel.  I left the pinecone wreath I made this year for my January winter décor and the black and white checked homespun rag garland I also made last year with black and white checked fabric and a piece of white yarn, the evergreen garland from Walmart is left up through March.  This year I added a wooden black buffalo check heart to the wreath, placed wooden children's letter blocks I picked up in a thrift haul in January that spell LOVE.  Some frosted tiny cones, red berries from Dollar Tree, a "XO" conversational hearts and a "All of Me Loves all of You!", I made last year.

Like this gray heart made with puzzles pieces, the little wooden heart with "A Key to My heart".

I did find a few cute items this year at my local thrift store, so I'll show you where I added my new revamped thrifted purchases through out this month.

Thank you so much for checking in to see what project I'm working on now.

God Bless you and your family,

DIY Christmas fabric trees project

A trio of fabric trees

This idea came from Katelyn, her you-tube channel is  Krafts by Katelyn , she comes up with some very awesome seasonal home decor craft ideas.

This was a quick diy to add to my Farmhouse Christmas Decor.

I traced out a tree design from printer paper, then I traced the tree shape onto form board and used a ex-zato knife to cut of the tree shape.

Then laid the form board tree shape on the fabric and cut out the shape with scissors

I use Aleene's tacky glue to attach the fabric to the form board.

I felt the tree needed some embellishments

Using twine, old buttons, and a metal star, from the craft store I went to work.

Some I did leave bare

I believe this project turned out GREAT!

Until the next project take care and thanks for stopping by.

DIY Rustic Bells Project

I'm adding rustic bells to my Christmas decor this year.

Using a few Dollar Tree white Christmas bell

and brown acrylic paint, I painted the large jingle bells.

Also in my stash I found a half dozen or so of the little jingle bells, so I painted them too.

Added some twine and homespun

I hung the small jingle bells on the garland , but it didn't show up real well, so I strung homespun on them.  The red check homespun add a little bit of color.

The large bells from Dollar Tree ended up at either end of my mantel

I think they look great!  I just wish I would have picked up a few more....

Hope Dollar Tree brings these bells back next Christmas season.

Thanks for stopping by, Vicki

Two Farmhouse DIY Autumn Pumpkins using Dollar Tree Items

Two more diy project to add to my FALL decor

Using a Dollar Tree pumpkins sign

Gave this sign two coats of Waverly chalk paint.

gluing the fall plaid fleece fabric scarf from Dollar Tree added a piece of burlap to stem.  Then added fall leaves, twine, and raffia also purchased from The Dollar Tree.

After looking at this project it needed more, so I added also from Dollar Tree a metal welcome piece and painted wooden letters to spell out Fall and added them to the decor pieces.  I think the finished product turned out very well.

I made a second pumpkin sign using a pumpkin sign form and adding the fall fleece fabric plaid scarf to cover the pumpkin shape.

Using a sign piece from another pumpkin sign, I use my glue gun and made lines to imitate corrugated metal and put aluminum foil over top to make it look like a metal piece.

Hand painted Hello Pumpkin and added a little brown paint around the edge to make it look rusted.  I'm still practicing this technique and glued it to the front of the pumpkin shape.

Thank you for stopping by, And may God Bless You and Your Family!

Decorate With Me - A Very Simple Mantel - With a Few Shamrocks

 Hi Friends,

It's time to dig out my March décor tubs to bring Spring touches to a dreary month here in my neck of the woods of Colorado.  There's still about a foot of snow on the ground and it's cold outside, with my spring décor I try to bring some color into my home.

This year on my mantel, I hung a garland that I made last year, a couple of felt shamrocks I made a while back, I also incorporated my collection of brass candle sticks along with a green depression glass sugar bowl and embellished with white pip berries sprig and eucalyptus stem, a green bud vase that I added white pip berries and a eucalyptus sprig, and in the center a cream color vase from FTD Floral.

Also I have a copy of the Constitutions hanging above.

Until the next project.
