Another Mini Vacation

Last Weekend I took another “Mini Vacation”.  Funny thing was the temperature in Glenwood was about the same as it is here except the nights stayed a little warmer and of course, the pool is always the same temperature.

I did some walking around town, Glenwood has a great downtown trail system that had been maintained (shoveled) which was very nice.

I stayed for two nights and found couple of very nice restaurants for dinner and a cute coffee shop for bunch.

I came back home to the cold, cold, cold cold weather, but very rejuvenated.  It was great!

How was your weekend?

Happy Valentine's Day

I didn't have class today, so I decided that this was a great day to make cookies!

I used the recipe that called for one box cake mix,1/2 cup of cooking oil, and two eggs, bake @350* for 10 minutes let cool.  I made a powder sugar icing added a little red food coloring to make it pink.  I also added a few drops of red food coloring to a 1/4 cup of white sugar to sprinkle on top in the shape of a heart using a small heart shape cookie cutter. I think they turned out great!

Did you make cookie today?

It’s Birthday Time

MC900436170[1]

Sunday is my birthday, of course at my age I usually validate the day and then go on about my business, but this winter  has been so cold, I decided to treat myself to another mini vacation. I think I’m going to Glenwood Spring Hot Pool.

I’ll let you know how it was.

Food Management February

diet

It’s the first Monday of the month and I thought I’d share my meal planning.

I’ve been kind of following the 400 calories meal ideas.

Breakfast: I usually have mix match -Wheat bread, eggs, whole grain cereal, I     still use 2% milk, I try to had a piece of fruit, coffee with lite creamer

Lunch: is tossed salad with some left over protein and oil and vinegar dressing

Supper: tossed salad with oil and vinegar dressing, a protein, and another vegetable

My exercise plan is still kind of still in the planning  stage.  I’ve been trying to shovel snow for thirty minutes every day, that's about all I can do when the air outside is so cold.  I don’t know if you can see the thermometer but it read zero!

Vintage Decor for February

Hi, and thanks for stopping by....

Today is February first and I'm making a list of important things going on this month.

MC910221023[1]

Activity List for February

  • My birthday month
  • Valentines Day
  • February décor
  • Valentine Day Cookies
  • New Valentine Décor Projects
I also thought I would show some of my past seasonal decorations I have stored in tubs for February.

I always have eucalyptus stem in my décor through out winter.  I also keep out the red candles from Christmas.

In this little vignette I have grouped some white pip berries and red and green eucalyptus stem together with two vintage post cards into one of my vintage cigar box on my entry way table.

This shelf is a substitute for a fireplace mantel which I do not have. I have place old bottles filled red seeds, several red hearts of varies sizes an old rusty can, white pip berries, old books and a Vintage Star Tobacco box.

On the table under the red shelf I have a small collection of vintage cigar boxes I have collected over the years. The red felt heart bowl filler is a sewing project I started this month.

The banner is another project I made this month.  I used red ribbon and red felt hearts trimmed in glitter and made copies of my vintage post cards to add to the banner.

What’s on your list for February? Until next time may

God Bless you and your Family,

Baby it's Cold Outside

Brrrrr....I woke up to -20* here in NW Colorado. This actually is not that unusual on an average we get at least 2-3 weeks of super cold weather every year around this time.  Way to cold to go outside, I think it's a good day to stay inside and work on something.

Food Management Monday's

I've been following the Menu Plan Monday's over at http://www.orgjunkie.com/  for quite sometime and it has been very helpful with cutting the stress at supper time, however I decide about this time last year to cut back on my food in take and started going to the gym every other day.  I did pretty good until..... Here Come The Excuse!  I got a cold that never went away, believe me I had a cough for more than 5 weeks. I'd get better then I'd be sick again.  Sooo......that idea kind of flew out the window.  This year I decided to go with food management first and cut back on the carbs a little and add more vegetable and fruit to our meals and then I'll start going to the gym or start walking.
This week my family will have
Monday- oven fried skinless chicken , tossed green salad, low fat dressing, green beans
Tuesday- grilled elkburgers(nearly no fat), baked beans, green tossed salad and canned peaches light syrup   for dessert
Wednesday- chicken gumbo over brown rice
Thursday - trimmed pork chops grilled, leek, carrots, snow peas, broccoli stir fry, and brown rice
Friday- goulash and family recipe using elk burger or lean ground beef, tossed salad, pears for dessert
Saturday- taco salad, eliminate the taco shell
Sunday- crock-pot roast beef (skim off fat), tossed green salad, steamed broccoli/cauliflower, jello for desert

Have a Great Day!
