Race Day

I always try to find a reason to have a little get together with friends to enjoy good food and games. Opening day of NASCAR RACING sounded like one of those times.  To start off, I  was thinking nacho as main dish.

a bag of tortillas chips 1 pound of ground beef cooked add a taco season packet and a two 16 oz. bags of shredded cheddar cheese and another of nacho cheese mix.  Top with sliced black olives and chopped onion.

Bake at 375 for about 15 minutes.  Add topping of your choice, my were sour cream, fresh salsa, and guacamole. It turned out delicious

And sit back and watch the Daytona 500 and snack out. Can't make a Sunday afternoon any better.

Have a Great Day!

Pigskin Potato Skins

Pigskins Potato Skins

I found this recipe for potato skins from Mary at Home is Where the Boat Is, here is the link.  https://homeiswheretheboatis.net/2015/01/14/pigskin-playoffs-and-potato-skins/  this site is amazing.  Her Photos are wonderful and the recipes are Amazing!

First I lined my egg roll pans with foil, then I cut three small russet potatoes in quarters brushed each wedge with olive oil and placed on the pan.  To represent the New England Patriots I topped the potato wedges with maple bacon cheddar cheese and a drizzle of maple syrup.

To represent the Philadelphia Eagles, I topped the potato wedges with diced green pepper, green onions, and chopped deli roast beef. Last I sprinkled shredded mozzarella cheese on top.  I preheated my oven for 400* and baked the potato wedges for 30 - 45 minutes.

Thank you for stopping by, and do Have a Great Day!

A Few More Vintage Winter Vignettes in my Den

In my den I think I decorate it more because of the shelving I have.  This is vintage blue lunch box I have added a couple of poinsettias along with a vintage glass door knob.

A Sir Walter Raleigh smoking tobacco tin, I stuck a cluster of poinsettias in it.

This little vignette I went with red berries and pine cone to this King Edward cigar box also, in this grouping  are a couple of my green bottles I just added homespun and a holly sprig

I leave out these baskets  of pine corns all year long I think it give a nice feel to the fire place

This little vignette I had a hard time deciding how to rearrange it.  I think I like the second arrangement the best.

I like the milk glass vases, I think the milk glass lightens up this vignette.

Thank you for stopping by to see what I have been up to at my home.

God Bless You and your family.

Frosty January Day at My Little Colorado Cottage

Planning for a Great! 2018

I woke up to a very frosty day, a great day to enjoyed the blue skies and look towards a great year.

As most year I just want to celebrate all the little things that go on in my home and be grateful for the special times.

I so much would like to incorporate more of my thrifted treasure into my home.  I have started making a list of some of the projects I would like to accomplish for February.  I do have a few thrifted items that need some loving care.  So I'm glad I have taken the time to think through a the process, I hope you will check back from time to time to see some of these projects come to life.

Thank you for stopping by to see what I have been up to

Winter Rustic/Farmhouse Vignettes, Throughout my House

Winter Vignettes

I left this simple  wreath on the front door.

I added snowmen and ice and silver accents on the mantel.

I left the red poinsettias

Changed out the chalkboard on the bookcase.

I added a refreshed eucalyptus wreath, I have been using year after year on my bathroom door.  Here a link to the tutorial.

This is the vintage tool tray on the coffee table in the den, I just added pine cones took out the snowballs added some eucalyptus branches to add some green.

I added a red and burlap banner from some fabric I had in my stash.  This old window is above the TV in the den.  I made one for each of my old windows.

I left the garland on the living room hutch and winter trees.  I added a banner to the old window.

The third banner is on this old window at my front door.  Sitting above a black shelf that my mother painted flowers on for me.

This is my plant table in my den, here I just added red glittery birds, pine cones, fir picks a vase with red berry cluster and a tall red candle in a vintage Star Tobaccos box I thrifted many years ago. Next to the tobacco box I have place a stack of books with a vintage chalk board   that I wrote "Let it Snow" . I also added a sprig of green with another red bird and a little potted tree one of my daughter made at school many years ago.

This winter décor will stay up till at least February, we'll see.

Thanks for stopping by, Have a Great Day!

Happy October! Here's a Halloween Dollar Tree Haul

I stopped by the Dollar tree today and look what I found! There were so many awesome things I just couldn't help myself.  I think this has been the largest Dollar Tree haul I have ever purchased.

I picked up the ceramic figurines and the multi colored googly eyes for some fun October activities.  I've see some You-Tubers hauling the Harvest Blessings and Harvest sign so I was excited to find them at my Dollar Tree Store.  As you can see I also purchased 2 large and 2 small vine wreaths to hang on doors in my house, not sure if I'll add any greenery to them.

I've never notice my Dollar Tree Store having so many of these magnet sheets before, I just had to get all of the styles.  And of course I never can have enough treat bags, at work I hand out treat bag to the kids in the classroom I work in.

Here I found more items to use as fun October craft activities for the grand kids.  I found some really cute Jack-o-lantern lights strings.

Lastly, I found these very cute evergreen tree garland for hanging cards from along with a few items to use in my everyday house decor.

I hope this inspires you for some fun items to decorate you home for Halloween.

Have a Great Day!

The following week my Grand daughter has a birthday and shell be turning 4 years old.

I decided that a home party with family would be the best for a four year old and not to over whelming for grandma. ha ha

Grandpa made the cake from a box mix and added icing.

Grand daughter blowing out the candles

The presents!!

The party theme I came up with was butterflies and purple crepe paper
