Rustic Winter Décor - Transition from Christmas to Winter in the Den

Hi Friends,

Setting up my fireplace mantel first, get the creative juice's flowing for me.  This year I thought about bring out more of the red black buffalos checks and woodsy feel for the foundation of my winter décor.  In past years I've done red birds, snowmen, or icy, snowy winter with snowflakes.

On the mantel I place two trees on either side that are sat in galvanized buckets.  That are cover with red/ black buffalo checked scarfs all of these items I bought at Dollar Tree.
I also added a few vintage bottles, pine cones and a milk glass vase with red berries.

In the center of the mantel I added this Baby it's Cold Outside, sign I crafted last winter, along with a few of my vintage canning jars.

A thrifted cardinal plate from last winter, and of course the black/white and red/black checked ribbon and pine garland that I love to add to the mantel.

Also in the den I found a place for the cast metal candle holder, I thrifted this month,

A glass flower frog that was handed down from my grandmother, one of my cigar boxes filled with pine cones and greenery weathered sticks from my yard.

On one of the shelves in the den is a vintage blue lunch box to display my collection of glass door knobs, greenery a few pine cones and red berries.

On top of the Pepsi crate I placed a vintage white mug with a little greenery and red berries and an chrome plate pocket warmer with a red bag that I found in the trunk.

In the Pepsi crate I changed a few things, added a little blue bottle and a children's tea saucer and a little greenery and berries.

Over in a corner of the den, I placed wool blankets in the wooden "Black Label" box on top of the trunk,

I also pulled out some of the games we play with the kids for time to time, some of the cold days in winter.

I like this arrangement, I made up for Christmas, using a vintage tobacco box, some pine greenery pine cones and this very large hurricane chimney.

I thrifted the hurricane chimney several years ago and didn't know how to use it. I really like how this center piece came to gather.

Thank you for stopping by.  I hope you enjoyed seeing how I decorated my mantel for the winter months.

Until the next time God Bless You,

Taking it Down the Christmas Tree

Hi Friends,

It is always sad for me when it's time to take down the Christmas tree.  We put this tree up I believe December 20th and kept it nourished with water.  Where I live the air is so dry and we do have a fire burning most of the winter month, the tree was very dry when we took it down last Sunday.

Another one of our traditions, I like to fulfill is to leave our tree up until after New Years and then take it down over the weekend.

However, this year we spent the  New Years weekend with my mother, and arrived home late Sunday night, just didn't get the time to get to the Christmas tree.

So many wonderful treasured hand made ornament by my kids and grandkids

Looking at this Kmart box I got these made in America glass ornaments on sale for $1.77

Carefully wrapping up in tissue and packing up the new ornament from the grand children and placing my old collection of ornament away for another year.

I hate to see the tree go, but I also enjoy getting more space back in my living room

Christmas Dinner Table Scape

Hi Friends,

The table is set for dinner

The tablecloth was a yard sale find and is actually for a round table, I had seven years ago.

I love the tablecloth so much I just made a few tucks, so it fits this rectangle table.

The  cute place mats were a thrift find from my local thrift store a couple of years ago,

the super cute green holly leaf napkins, my Mother made for me one Christmas past.

Because the table cloth is so busy, I don't always do a center piece, for Christmas.

I'm using a Little Red Truck, S/P shaker I'm not sure where I found this cute pair.

The Santa S/P set I found at The Dollar Tree Store a few years ago, I mainly use the S/P cuties as décor.

The Santa napkin rings was a thrifted yard sale find, I believe last summer, there were six in the box.

I do like eating by candle light on Special Occasions, (the grandkids like it too)

My table scape is very simple (remember, I have grandkids at my home for Christmas)

Thank you so much for stopping by......

May God Bless You this Christmas Season.

Vintage Farmhouse Home Décor Haul

Hi friends,

Today I was finishing up my Christmas shopping and thought I would hit up a vintage/antique thrift store. They were having all Christmas items half off, I just couldn't find any vintage looking Christmas items that caught my eye.

I did find a few things vintage home décor piece though.

The hen and rooster s/p were cute they both had a chip at base but, I'm keeping them for décor, so it's not a big deal to me.

I really don't need another cookie cutter, but I don't have any with the wooden green handles, so I bought them will probably use them in my spring décor.

I bought the grater because I saw a you-tuber, I follow use graters to hold dish towel or dollies, so I'm adding this grater to my kitchen décor.

Thank you for checking in to see what project I'm working on.

My God Bless you and your family.

A Vintage Christmas Thrift Store Haul

I've been watching a lot of home decorators on you tube, lately and all the
awesome DYI's, these very crafty people have come up with using thrifted items.

This weekend I shopped my 3 local thrift stores.  Here is what I found and how I display some of the items.

I found this bag of miscellaneous Christmas balls for $1.50

I added the bag of vintage Christmas balls to
my Formosas cigar box.

This cute little Santa I paid $3.00

I  combined a thrifted  wicker sleigh I painted, white using chalk paint add a little bag to hold presents, a little white foo-velveteen deer ornament to make this vignette.

I was so surprised to find these Christmas tree tart cups for $.25

I will use them in my trier tray I think.

I found these nicely painted bells with snowmen on them, I kind of feel sad to rust these out.  I've been collecting larger bells the past couple of years to add the rustic feel throughout my Christmas décor.  I follow a you-tube that has a tutorial to rust them so I'm trying the formula out to see if I can rust them up.  This will be a later post.

Thrifting is one of my favorite things to do, it is so much fun to find such treasure.

Hi friends,

Every year it is a family tradition to make sweet treats for our family and friends and neighbors.

Sugar cookies

peanut butter blossoms

pretzels and rolos candy sandwiches, dipped in white chocolate and sprinkles.

Then we wrap up the treats in wax paper and put into pretty gift bags I got on clearance last January.

Christmas Tradition - #4 Vintage Christmas Cards

 Hi friends,

Today's project is getting my Christmas card list out

As you know I like to thrift, so many of my Christmas card are either end of season sale or thrifted through out the year.

Cards I have already received so far this season

I need to get the 'Red Sparkle Ribbon' with the cute 'Ginger Breadmen clips' hung up.

Over the years I've slowly misplaced these cute 'Ginger Breadmen Clips' and this year I found this cute felt 'Christmas Tree Clips', I believe at 'The Dollar Tree Store'

This is where I placed the Christmas Card - 'Red Sparkly Ribbon' on a wall that separates the kitchen and entry room.

Now I can place the Christmas cards I have been receiving this Christmas Season on this festive 'Red Christmas Sparkly Ribbon'.

I'm loving the new felt Christmas tree clips I have added to the 'Red Sparkle Ribbon'

To display my Christmas Cards that I have received from my family and friends, this season.

Thank you so much for stopping by to check out.....
