Thrifting for Vintage Farmhouse Décor

Hi friends,

I've been thrifting again and WOW! the things I found! I was so excited finding some of these treasures.
This little mirror I will be adding to my mirror grouping in a guest room.  The crocheted little dress I will be displaying also in the guest room.

I have been collecting nesting boxes here and there for a while so I picked up a trinket box.  It will need to be painted painted and maybe some embellishments added not sure yet.

The nut cracker and melon spoon I will add to a basket.

These yellow and tan covered books will be added to my stash for later use possibly this fall décor.

Later the same day I went to out local antique store and picked up these interesting trinkets.

The mason trowel was $3 the little oil can was $5, the rooster I think is part of a weather vane? was $1,  the whale ornament was $1.

I was digging in a box of tools when I found this interesting bottle opener it had a price of $8, which is over what I would spend, but I thought this was very unique and I will keep in my collection of barware.

Oh when I saw this glass candy bowl, I was in awe.  My grandmother had a dish just like it, always had small hard candy in it, oh the memories.

I've always have my eyes out for little perfume bottles.

I believe I spent not more than $1 to $3 for each one.

The little bottle that has a lid was so cute even though it doesn't have the original top.

I will be putting these little bottles on a tray to sit on a shelf in the guest bath, I think or the guest room vanity.

Every where you look in social media I see Junkets picking up little basket to hang on shelves, so for $.25

I picked up the two little gold basket that I will be painting and the larger basket was $.50.

I also thrifted the wood nut bowl, I do have another one so I can use it as a riser in my fall or winter décor.

Some weeks there's not much out there, but I feel I found some great treasures this week.  Super excited to incorporation them into my décor.

Thank you for stopping by. Until next time ...

May God bless you and your family.

Decorating the Hutch for July

Welcome Friends,

I chose stars as my focus this year.   I've been collecting metal and wooden star from Dollar Tree home décor item to repurpose.  My though process is to sand the glitter add some red, white, and blue paint to the star and scatter the star through out my décor as accents.

*****

I have added a few thrifted items I have collected and a couple of DIY's

*****

a little Spanish moss a diy burlap ball a few diy stars, thrifted aluminum drinking cup a vintage canning jar filled with vintage buttons,  I added some homespun and red and white flowers to a gallon glass jug I thrifted from a yard sale.

I don't think I will ever get tired of  using black and white checked touches.
the yellow hen and carved horse were thrifted

Here are a few of this years new items repurposed stars painted in standard red, white, and blue acrylic paint by delta, I purchase at Walmart.

I also added pip berries picks.

A couple of little American flags.

Thank you for stopping by my Little Colorado Cottage today, I hope I have given a few ideas of ways to add thrifted items to your July décor.

Setting up a Vintage Bar Cart on the Patio for July Fourth

Hi Friends,

This summer I thought it would be fun to use the cart for 4th of July entertaining on the patio.

Today I'm freshening up a vintage bar cart I have had  stored in the shed for a few years.

Every season I tried to pick up seasonal themed napkins, paper plates, straws, table cloths, etc. to set a ambience to a event, which in this case a Fourth of July gathering.

I recently found and old ice bucket while cleaning my hall closet, I updated the ice bucket did a makeover to it, thinking it would be useful on the bar cart along with silver plate prong, pie or cake server, and a couple of serving spoons that I thrifted a couple of weeks ago.

On the second shelf I thought that a basket filled with snacks bags would be nice
on the low shelf a bucket for water bottles, I think the bucket I used is to small.  I'll have to look around the house or maybe just use a cooler.

Over on the patio table I added terra cotta pot with flags and a couple of diy stars, but it looked a little plain.

So I added some foe red flowers, a burlap bow to the pot, another little terra cotta pot for coasters, a patriotic thrifted place mat and a few wooden stars scatter around.  I think it looks great.

Thank you for stopping by. so until next time...

May God Bless you and your family.

Rustic Patriotic Front Porch for July

Hi Friends,

Thank you for stopping by My Little Colorado Cottage, today I had a few moments today to get outside and change out my front porch.

I moved my blue bench from the back yard to be place in front of the my living room window to fill in the gap and add color.  I really like the bench here. I have left the milk cans, galvanized buckets, and wire milk crates out front. And then I just added some florals and little patriotic flags.

I also left the Spanish moss wreath I made for spring and changed out the sign. The red, white, and blue banner I have had for many years, I get them out once in awhile.

I hope, I gave at least one idea to help you with your patriotic decorating this summer.

May God Bless you and your family.

Rustic Farmhouse Styled Mantel for July

Hello Friends,

Today, I'm styling my mantel with items I have had a long time, some recent thrifted treasures, a bit of Spanish moss, floral, home spun cotton scraps and a few DIY's.

Here on the mantel are a few thrifted vintage bottles with a little floral, I added a vintage Sir Walter Raleigh tobacco tin with floral and a small doily with red crochet edges.

The assortment of star are a diy and the little wooden fire crackers in the terra cotta pot were part of a garland I thrift last summer.

The framed hen picture is a gift from my oldest daughter. I'm loving it so much I hung it on the vintage window frame over the fire place.

Here on the mantel are a better view of two of the vintage bottles with homespun tied around the neck of the bottle and some floral.

Also, a couple of the vintage hens that I'm always adding to any vignette.  Oh did you notice another diy? the USA wood block.

I think it started last year but I'm adding black & white check banner and floral moss to my vignettes, I really like that added touch.

This wicker star basket I thrifted a few years ago from my local thrift store I just added some floral a little bit of Spanish moss pip berries and a couple of boxes of sparklers, a diy block of wood with the word pride, the little vintage liberty bell was given to me by my late grandfather, some vintage wooden kids blocks to spell out USA, and a vintage atlas canning jar with some homespun added to the neck of the jar.

I did a little juggling items around for better placement.

I think the vintage rooster under the framed picture looks nice.

Thank you stopping by today. I am really liking how the mantel is looking this year, it make me smile.

God Bless America!

Red, White, and Blue Vignette

 Hi Friends,

The month of July is coming up and I have pulled out my patriotic tubs out to start decorating.  Today I'm showing off a cute little cabinet that my dad made, I have moved some of my salt and pepper pieces to live in this cabinet.

On this book case I have some vintage items I have gathered from around my house and a few recent thrift haul pieces to make a few patriotic vignettes.

In this vignette I've added the thrifted cookie cutters into a enamel bowl that I had stashed away on a cupboard in the laundry room.  Some pip berries and a little wooden flag I painted a few years ago.

Inside the cabinet are a few of my vintage salt and pepper pieces.  I have a several sets of tiny people chef, from Japan

On top of the cute little cabinet I put together a wooden rooster, along with a recently thrifted flour sifter with a red handle and a red handle cheese slicer and a white hen salt shaker.

Thank you so much for stopping by and take a gander of how I place some thrifted items into a patriotic vignette in my home.

Until next time, God Bless you and your family.

Hunting for Vintage Treasure in June

 Hi Friends,

I went on a treasure hunt this week and look at what I found. I found some items to add to my Patriotic theme for July.

The placemat I will add to the other I use for the 4th of July.  When I saw the bread pans I had to buy them I saw a You-tuber use the pans to display bottles, or caddies.

I couldn't believe I found the flag cookie cutters.  I was so excited to find the cookie cutter, can't wait to make flay shape cookies for July.

I have two rolling pin I've had for many years.   Lately, rolling pin have been all the rage with the farmhouse décor, that I have started collecting rolling pins with the different handles.

Tiny baskets with long handle is something I'm always on the look out for, to hang from a shelf.

This small cut glass round dish caught my eye, I may use it with bowl fillers or candy on a end table.

I also spotted some wooden spoons to add to a jar above the kitchen cabinets.

The metal basket, cup, and sugar tong caught my eye because of the patina, I use tarnish aluminum or silver plate a lot through out my house.  I'm not sure how I'll use these three items yet in my décor.

I always pick up checked fabric, I also saw the red paint handle bread slicer, I had to pick it up.

Silver plate flat ware is something new for me to look for. I have been intrigued by the different patterns.

I picked up this cute wooden caddy for 3.00 I'm not sure if Ill leave it the way it is or paint it.

I also found a couple of little amber bottles and then I found this amber jelly jar!

I've been also collecting jelly jars, I'm not sure why.. but, I found one that has a amber tint. I will probably save for my fall décor.

I couldn't by pass floral tape for $.25. I can always use find a project to use floral tape.

Hand painted wooden bowl, I believe in a Mexican floral? It is so beautiful I'm not sure if I'll paint over it or just keep it as is, and use the platter for entertaining.

WOW what a great haul today I feel I found the mother lode. what a wonderful day!

So until next time.......

May God Bless you and your family.
