Late Summer Mantel With Sunflowers Accenting Vintage Bottles

 Hi Friends,

Today I'm changing up my fireplace mantel for late Summer.  With sunflowers, black and white homespun, a crow here and there.

I left the blue framed rooster picture on the vintage window frame, I love this picture!
I brought in a few of my hens from my collection.  This year I have adding touches of Spanish moss, I think the moss gives a more primitive/rustic farmhouse vibe.

I  just the the added touches of blue and green I also pulled in vintage toy blocks a pottery piece my oldest daughter made in school years ago.

I also included some vintage bottles, a couple of aged books, old tobacco tin.

I really like how my mantel turned out this summer, with the sunflower garland layered with the age light blue jean rag garland with a black and white home spun mixed in.

Thank you so much for stopping by, so until next time May God Bless You and You Family today.

Decorate with me....... Small Area of the Living room with Some of my Collectibles

Hi Friends,

Today I'm playing around with a vignette on a book shelf in my living room.  I gather a couple of my vintage chickens, some of my gramma's measuring cups, a jadeite salt shaker, a metal recipe box my son Mod Podge way back in high school, one of my brass candle sticks, a couple of vintage cookie, and a dark green depression glass salt shaker.

So lets see how I rearrange these pieces to find the prefect arrangement.

Changed it up a bit by adding a rusty tin for a riser

I'm loving this little vignette I put together for summer.

Thank you for stopping by.  Let me know what you think?  Is it the milk glass vase or the brass candle stick?

Until the next time .....
May God Bless You and Your Family.

Thrift Haul - I Found A Few Vintage Book

 Hi Friends,

I have another great haul from a local thrift/antique store. Oh the books I found are amazing!

Little golden Mother Gooses, Woody Woodpecker and My little book of poems.
But then I saw this Lassie book this is a first. I so thrilled to find this book it brings back memories as a kid watching the T. V. show

I found this grab full of bits and pieces of craft items I was so thrilled for just $1.75.

The next cool book I found titled "George Washington"
I can't wait to display this book with my patriotic décor.

Also the Huckleberry Finn, Tom Sawyer, and The Treasure Hunt
were great finds for me. Oh by the way I paid a $1.00 a piece for the books.  Yes I felt the price was a little high but I don't intend to resale the books.

I had so much fun today thrifting.  I'm always on the look out for books that have be (band) to add to my collection.  You just never know where these books will turn up.

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed my vintage book haul.  Until next time.....

Sun Flower DIY Project

Hi Friends,

This week I have been working on a little project using wooden sun shapes fun picture frames from the Dollar Store.

I painted the wooden suns yellow and then added some black and white checked gingham fabric.

My vision was to use buttons for the center of the flower (sun) frame. It seems I always have a good stock of old buttons.

So I took a look through my button stash, and found a set of five for each flower (sun) frame.

I heated up the dandy glue gun to attach the buttons to the center to make the frame look more like a sunflower.  I think all four flowers turned of very cute.

Have you made a diy for fall? Until the next time.....

Thrifting for Vintage Farmhouse Décor

Hi friends,

I've been thrifting again and WOW! the things I found! I was so excited finding some of these treasures.
This little mirror I will be adding to my mirror grouping in a guest room.  The crocheted little dress I will be displaying also in the guest room.

I have been collecting nesting boxes here and there for a while so I picked up a trinket box.  It will need to be painted painted and maybe some embellishments added not sure yet.

The nut cracker and melon spoon I will add to a basket.

These yellow and tan covered books will be added to my stash for later use possibly this fall décor.

Later the same day I went to out local antique store and picked up these interesting trinkets.

The mason trowel was $3 the little oil can was $5, the rooster I think is part of a weather vane? was $1,  the whale ornament was $1.

I was digging in a box of tools when I found this interesting bottle opener it had a price of $8, which is over what I would spend, but I thought this was very unique and I will keep in my collection of barware.

Oh when I saw this glass candy bowl, I was in awe.  My grandmother had a dish just like it, always had small hard candy in it, oh the memories.

I've always have my eyes out for little perfume bottles.

I believe I spent not more than $1 to $3 for each one.

The little bottle that has a lid was so cute even though it doesn't have the original top.

I will be putting these little bottles on a tray to sit on a shelf in the guest bath, I think or the guest room vanity.

Every where you look in social media I see Junkets picking up little basket to hang on shelves, so for $.25

I picked up the two little gold basket that I will be painting and the larger basket was $.50.

I also thrifted the wood nut bowl, I do have another one so I can use it as a riser in my fall or winter décor.

Some weeks there's not much out there, but I feel I found some great treasures this week.  Super excited to incorporation them into my décor.

Thank you for stopping by. Until next time ...

May God bless you and your family.

Patriotic Touches to the Hutch for July 2021 - Decorate with me.

Decorating the Hutch for July

Welcome Friends,

I chose stars as my focus this year.   I've been collecting metal and wooden star from Dollar Tree home décor item to repurpose.  My though process is to sand the glitter add some red, white, and blue paint to the star and scatter the star through out my décor as accents.

*****

I have added a few thrifted items I have collected and a couple of DIY's

*****

a little Spanish moss a diy burlap ball a few diy stars, thrifted aluminum drinking cup a vintage canning jar filled with vintage buttons,  I added some homespun and red and white flowers to a gallon glass jug I thrifted from a yard sale.

I don't think I will ever get tired of  using black and white checked touches.
the yellow hen and carved horse were thrifted

Here are a few of this years new items repurposed stars painted in standard red, white, and blue acrylic paint by delta, I purchase at Walmart.

I also added pip berries picks.

A couple of little American flags.

Thank you for stopping by my Little Colorado Cottage today, I hope I have given a few ideas of ways to add thrifted items to your July décor.

So until the next time.....

Setting up a Vintage Bar Cart on the Patio for July Fourth

Hi Friends,

This summer I thought it would be fun to use the cart for 4th of July entertaining on the patio.

Today I'm freshening up a vintage bar cart I have had  stored in the shed for a few years.

Every season I tried to pick up seasonal themed napkins, paper plates, straws, table cloths, etc. to set a ambience to a event, which in this case a Fourth of July gathering.

I recently found and old ice bucket while cleaning my hall closet, I updated the ice bucket did a makeover to it, thinking it would be useful on the bar cart along with silver plate prong, pie or cake server, and a couple of serving spoons that I thrifted a couple of weeks ago.

On the second shelf I thought that a basket filled with snacks bags would be nice
on the low shelf a bucket for water bottles, I think the bucket I used is to small.  I'll have to look around the house or maybe just use a cooler.

Over on the patio table I added terra cotta pot with flags and a couple of diy stars, but it looked a little plain.

So I added some foe red flowers, a burlap bow to the pot, another little terra cotta pot for coasters, a patriotic thrifted place mat and a few wooden stars scatter around.  I think it looks great.

Thank you for stopping by. so until next time...

May God Bless you and your family.

Rustic Patriotic Front Porch for July

Hi Friends,

Thank you for stopping by My Little Colorado Cottage, today I had a few moments today to get outside and change out my front porch.

I moved my blue bench from the back yard to be place in front of the my living room window to fill in the gap and add color.  I really like the bench here. I have left the milk cans, galvanized buckets, and wire milk crates out front. And then I just added some florals and little patriotic flags.

I also left the Spanish moss wreath I made for spring and changed out the sign. The red, white, and blue banner I have had for many years, I get them out once in awhile.

I hope, I gave at least one idea to help you with your patriotic decorating this summer.

May God Bless you and your family.

 Hi Friends,

I bring out these thrifted metal planters from my Mom many years ago and put them on the deck for summer. Today, I stuffed in the bottom of the planter with some burlap and patriotic colored florals I purchased from Dollar Tree this year.

This year I hung up two hanging basket added some florals and greenery on either side of my patio.

In my garden I have wooden box with  rabbit wire to display my collection of metal trinkets I pick up.  I added florals to the wooden box.

Do you see the rusty pulley or the rusted bulb shovel?
