Vintage Inspired Handmade Snowmen

Hi Friends,

I am so happy you have stopped by "My Little Colorado Cottage"  today.

For the past couple of weeks I've been working with paper clay, I have wanted to handmake vintage inspired 'Snowmen' to add to my Winter décor this season.
***
This weekend I finished up the project
***
For now I have all of the cute snowmen on top of the hutch as I refresh some of my vignettes for the month of February, these little guys will be moving around.

*****
I found a very easy recipe for the paper clay,  at Tree Craft Studios here

I followed the recipe, but added just a little more shredded paper, this recipe makes a large batch of clay
(kind of looks like oatmeal)
*****

I started by using up some playdough I had in the craft stash for the Grandkids.

My thought was to put the paper clay over the snowmen form.

*****

as it turned out the playdough cracked so bad that the paper clay worked out well covering the cracks.

*****

I also used toilet paper rolls for a taller snowmen and used aluminum foil to form arms.

*****

It took some time to dry thoroughly, I did use aluminum foil shaped in a ball for the snowmen made from the paper roll

*****

I had added the orange carrot nose and pipe before I added the felt scarves.

After all was done, I preferred the fabric scarves and fabric embellishment on the stove top hat instead of the felt.

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to stop by to see what I have been up to.

What do you think of this project, for the first time using with paper clay?

 So until my next post......

Vintage Thrift Haul - Grab Bags of Vintage Costume Jewelry-Trinkets

Hi Friends,

Today, I'm so excited to be sharing the two grab bags I purchased Friday, that I didn't get chan0ce to share on the last post.....

As I was checking out at my local thrift store on Friday, I spotted these two grab bags of odds and ends costume jewelry for $2.50 each, at the counter!

Some of the trinkets I kept for me and my Grand-daughter.
Most of the time, I brake a part the jewelry and save the beads and do-dads
for other projects.
*****

The first bag was mostly necklaces

The wooden heart necklace had a broken clasp, but was interesting, Ill be using the wooden heart in my Valentine vignettes, next month

*****

The beautiful necklace with the large aqua beads was in good shape I think my Grand-daughter will love it she loves dress-up play.

*****

I saw this bracelet in the bag and was hoping it was a locket, sadly it wasn't.

Second bag had quite a few paired earrings of all colors and sizes, which is great! I just need to find backs for the post earrings.

*****

I like the black, silver, and aqua colors of this necklace it had magnetic Hematite beads strung in it, I'll probably use the beads for other projects.

*****
a few bracelets were also in this bag

This bracelet had interesting nautical embellishments
and the pendant with the image of a type of seed?

This is way I LOVE to thrift, you just never know what you will find!

Super cute smiley sun pendant

A pendant of sandals

This is a new never seen before....

Friday Thrift Haul- Very Cute Small Doll Clothing

Hi Friends,

I'm so excited to share what I found out thrifting this week!

*****

This cute grouping of two little under skirts priced at $1.00 each, for a small doll, a unfinished dress also for a small doll and a super cute hat was priced $1.00 to complete the outfit.

This little grouping are the thrifted vintage little doll dresses I have so far. I have a few small dolls, in my truck, I'll be digging through the truck to see if these dresses will fit any of the dolls

*****

In the craft area of the store I found two wooden-spools of thread priced $1.00 each, and two skeins of embroidery thread for $.50 each. I place the thread in a vignette on the shelf in my sewing corner.

*****

Children's bake ware is not on my list of things to look for but when I do come across a pieces I pick it up.

My grandkids are still young and enjoy baking with Grandma.

The grater is not vintage, but I saw someone using a grater to hang dish towels, so when I get a moment to get it hung up, I think I'll make a DIY post.

the loaf pan had a sticker price $.75 and the grater had $1.00 sticker.
I paid a total of $1.50
*****

The cute red cloth cover heart box didn't have a sticker, so I paid zero

*****
The very cool book with great graphic on the cover I paid $.50, copy right 1935

I have a shelf in a spare bedroom where I keep my small collection of vintage books. I saw someone on Pinterest use a casserole caddy to hold cookbooks, I like how it work on this shelf.

I found two more Grab Bags of great wooden toys, $2.50 each.

I will clean them up and will be putting them into the toy box, for when the Grandkids come to visit.

Winter Snowmen Décor - Hutch Vignettes

Hi Friends,

I've got my Christmas décor put away. I do leave out the greenery, pine-garland and the natural pinecones for the next couple of month for Winter Season.

***

For this winter year season décor,  I'm using thrifted vintage snowmen, natural pinecones, snowflakes, and of course handmade frosted pinecones and a touch of icy-blue throughout my Cottage Home.

***

Starting with the vignettes in the hutch. I just took out most of the Christmas sparkle and added in more greenery sprig from a thrifted faux-pine garland I took apart.  I brought out my handmade white pinecones, (I just used a little white paint on pine cones I had collected overtime.

The felt Snowman head and vest was a thrifted find to- use on a Christmas Champagne bottle I think.

This super cut DIY pipe cleaner elf figurine I Thrifted a while back Love it!
I took a box of Snowflake from DT and blue wash them to have a blue tint

*****
In the green bottle cubbies, I have added "The thrifted the Ozarks Plate"
added a few pinecones and sprig of winter greenery, and this super cute Thrifted
Vintage Japanese Elf or Santa ?

*****

A super cute Milk-Glass vignette in the Hutch
I moved a few of the 'Cobalt Blue Vicks' jars into this vignette. I water-downed a little blue paint to give the white snow flakes a hint of blue. This is my favorite  Winter vignette so far.

*****
Not quite done with vignette in the entry room, it needs something, but I'm not sure what needs to be added
