Valentine Decor DYI - Button Hearts

From my thrift haul in January, I pick a set of three paper hearts on a ribbon to use for this project.

I decided to paint them with Waverly white chalk paint.  I have a stash of buttons and choose colors of white, tan, pale pink, and faded red. Then I glued them about a quarter inch in from edge.

This is how I used the hearts in my February decor.  On my coat closet I have hung a small twig wreath and added one of the hearts.

This year I'm using a lot of the black and white check material in my decor.  Here I took a picture frame added the black and white check material to the card board backing of the frame and attached a button heart on the material, I also added a heart from a material I have in my stash.

I think this project turned out nicely and didn't cost me much.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

Valentine DYI- my take on buffalo check heart

Hi friends welcome to another DYI!

I had a plain wooden heart I picked up in my January thrift haul  for $ .50

I painted the entire heart using white acrylic paint.  Then using 1" making tape I laid out the tape 1" apart, next I painted the heart gray, just mixing white and black acrylic paint together.

Letting the piece dry after painting the white and gray, I applied black acrylic paint for the final step.

Here is the unveiling, I reused the masking tape so in this picture it looks like I really got mixed up with the stripe, but there is still more tape to pull off.

This is my attempt to paint a "Buffalo Check" pattern, I did have to touch up a little, I suggest using new masking tape with each color

Here is the finished project, I added a red felt heart and topped with a small red felt heart glued on a large burlap heart glued on a larger red felt heart heart left over from a I made last year.  I place the heart on my mantel leaning against a silver color charger I thrifted.  I think this project turned out great.

DYI - Red Felt Heart Garland

This year I wanted to add more garland to my seasonal decor.

So for February I added red felt hearts garlands to my old window in my entryway

First window is on top of the shelving unit in the living room

and the this small window is in my entry-way.

I always keep on hand as part of my crafting essentials jute string and a collection of felt, of many colors. I dug out the red felt and spent a couple of evening tracing and cutting out red felt hearts

and hot gluing the hearts onto jute string.

This project  took a little of time cutting and tracing, but a very simple project to do.

Thank you for stopping by.

Until the next project, happy crafting.

Seasonal DYI - Red and White Yarn Pom Pom Garland

One of my DYI for February were these red and white yarn pom poms.  I believe there 1" in diameter.  I tried each pom pom to a length of yarn to make a garland for my mantel and one of my old windows.

I really like this new addition to my seasonal decor, I may use these pom pom garlands in July.
Did you made a DYI for your February decor?

Thank you for stopping by and have a Great Day.  Vicki

Make Over "Dollar Tree" Sign with a Rustic Farmhouse Decor feel for February

Hi Friends,
Here is another diy project to add to my rustic farmhouse  decor for February.

Follow Your Heart

A project that was fairly easy to do.

I bought these signs a while back from "Dollar Tree" liking the shiplap design, but not having any ideas how to make over to fit with my rustic farmhouse style.

I took the string off, but left the brads, got out the Waverly White Chalk Paint and gave both signs two coats of paint.

I also added a few touches of gray paint to help age the seam lines on the signs, I am working on that technic of shading.

After letting it dry over-night I took jute string and restrung the arrow pattern.

This was a pretty easy project to do and I think it added a nice touch to my
February decor.

Thank you for stopping by for another dyi project.

DYI Heart using Puzzle pieces

Hello friends, I found this Idea off of YouTube at

I took puzzle pieces that were missing pieces mixed paint to get this gray color and painted the puzzle pieces

I

This heart was purchased at Dollar Tree I chalk painted it and tried a little distress technique with a brush and some of the gray paint.  You can see I need a little practice.

Glued the puzzle pieces on the edge three layers deep, the tin heart was from a sign also purchased at Dollar Tree and I tied a jute bow and glued it to the tin heart.

This is how I displayed  the heart in my den on the tiered red shelves.  I think it turned out to be a great item to my decor, it was very easy and looks so nice sitting in this cigar box on a shelf in my den.

Black and White Hearts- DYI

The wooden hearts I used were from a couple of Valentine Welcome signs that I bought from "The Dollar Tree" last year.

I used Waverly chalk paint in white and gave the red glittery heart two coats of paint.

I free hand drew a heart in the middle about a quarter inch from the edge of the heart shape and using Waverly black chalk paint to make little chalk board hearts.

I added a 1 inch wide strip of black and white checked fabric to the back of the hearts so that they could be hung on a hook or around an old bottle like I display here on my mantel.

I think the black and white hearts added a nice touch to my decor.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

DYI - Valentine Wreath "'Dollar Tree" make over

Using a grapevine wreath I had, I added some of the Black and White Checked material and thin red ribbon and wrapped around the grapevine wreath.
Next I added some of the little wooden hearts that I bought at "The Dollar Tree" that were a welcome sign and chalk painted white

and also added the letters to spell the word love from the yard of  black and white checked fabric, using stencils I had in my craft supply box.

I used wide popsicle stick from Walmart and laid out the letter heart out and glued to popsicle stick, then attached it to the ribbon on the grapevine wreath to get a

I added a bow made from the 2 inch wired burlap ribbon from "The Dollar Tree "store and a 2 inch strip of the black and white checked fabric.  I think I should have added another black and white checked ribbon on top of the burlap bow.

I hope I gave you some decor  ideas to implement into your home decor for February.

February 2019 Will Soon Be Here!

When it comes to seasonal decorating, I pull out the bins and see what I have and right now my Valentine Decor is pink or red, white and a little burlap accents.
I made a red felt/burlap heart banner for the mantel a couple of years ago

I have a few items from Dollar Tree.

Red and white felt "Happy Valentine" Banner I made last year.

Next step is to go check in with a couple of amazing You-Tube crafters that I follow, to see what the tend is for this years season.

Buffalo check and Burlap are part of every DYI project I see for Valentine Farmhouse Decor this year.

I'm definitely going to be including some black and white check hearts into my February decor.

I found the black and white checked material at my local fabric store, I picked up 2 yard.

Stay tune to see what DYI's I come up with this year.

Thank you for stopping by,
