Thrifting for Vintage Treasures -Fabric, Craft Books, Paper Dolls

 Hi friends,

A couple of weeks back I shopped a yard sale that had many many dolls and I picked up three boxes of fabric and sewing notions and craft books.  Well, today I took the time to look through the three huge boxes that I purchase for $1.00 a piece.

*****
I kept a few pattern books with seasonal covers, to use in my vignettes, I someone on social media using vintage craft books in seasonal vignettes and thought it was a great idea.

I love the photo on this page, pearls and white gloves.

*****
I kept all of the cotton fabric, I use fabric in my décor as garlands, bowl filler or ornies, signs, etc. to give a warm down home feel to my home.

*****
I was super excited to find these paper doll books, back when i was in grade school I loved playing with paper dolls.

A cute pet animals with interchangeable clothes.

*****
In one of the boxes were four to six of these man-made lace pieces, this is my favorite one "house in the woods"

a couple of quilt panels this fabric panel of a pheasant, will be used in my fall décor.

****
Not to long ago, I watched a You-tuber I follow, was showing how to crochet summer flowers.

*****
At the end of the sorting through three boxes down to one box with a lot of little kid character and baby fabric and many many crochet afghans pattern books to be re-gifted to someone.

Thank you for stopping back by, to see what I have been working on.
This coming weekend is thrifting weekend so stop back by on Monday to see what kind of treasure I find.

Until then....May God Bless You and Your Family, I'm Vicki a Colorado Junkett

Thrifted Sunflower Mirror - Simple Saturday Afternoon DIY Upcycle

Hi Friends,

I went to several Yards sale with my grand kids yesterday and one of the thrifted find I decided to upcycle today. A super easy project.

At one of the sales I found this very cool sunflower mirror for a $1.00, with metal petals and knew how I would upcycle this sunflower mirror.

I used a little Aleene's Tacky Glue and adhered to the mirror and added the fabric to the mirror

Here is my homespun fabric, I really thought about using the red-ish brown check

You know how I love black and white check

This turned out so nice and a super quick project besides.

Maybe you have a different idea I would love to hear, how you would upcycle this sunflower mirror.

I just want to thank you for stopping by, check back next week to see what I'm up to.

I post my weekly vintage thrift hauls and vignettes of where I incorporate the treasure in my home, along with seasonal home décor and a few DIY's.

I loaded up on vintage glass bottles, $0.10 each.

The box had quite a few milk glass container I choose these milk glass container that had some cool designs on them.

I'm not sure about the bullet looking bottle in the front here... Has anyone have an idea?

I love the detail on these bottles

Vintage Thrift Shopping at a Few Yard Sales This Weekend

Hi Friends,

I went thrift shopping at a few yard sales today. What I purchased was vintage dolls and fabric, Why? you might ask, well the price was right. Each box was a dollar, so if I keep one thing it's cheaper than the thrift store in my area.

Some of the fabric I will use in some of my DIY's and I'll gift the pieces of fabric to friends that I won't use.

Most of the dolls are vintage and in very loved shape.

I quickly added some simple clothing on the dolls in order to show you this little collection I thrifted this weekend.

I haven't decided if I'll keep any of these dolls I may

At the Bottom of the doll box there were some souvenir dolls in pretty good shape.

I want to thank you for checking back, I'm trying to post at least every week of what I've been doing every week.

So, Until next week......

Late-Summer Sunflowers and Vintage Treasures on the Hutch

Hi Friends,

Today, I'm working on the hutch in my living for Late-Summer, I've left the vintage tackle boxes, because that is what I like to do in the Summer is fish. I'm adding pops of yellow to the top of my hutch, the yellow sunflower was a DIY last year.

*****

As I have mentioned before I love some roosters and hens. I thrifted the applique rooster in the embroidery hoop many years ago, just love it

*****

A few yellow sunflowers here and there.

I love bringing out the old torn jeans garlands and banners for Summer into Fall décor.

*****

Still loving black and white check ribbon when ever I can. I brought a couple of my green glass pieces, the vintage emerald glass goblet in the harvest pattern, I filled with dried cotton hulls to add some interest.

*****
I really like the little wicker basket I sat on the vintage scale it brings a bit of warm color and I think ties with the recently thrifted brown oval picture frame hiding in the back, did you notice the wooden pony?  My step father carved it, such a sweet memory.

*****
Lastly, I left my small collection of vintage blue/green Ball canning jars, if you remember I thrifted a zinc cap for the large Ball jar a couple of weeks ago, now all the jars have lids.

Thank you so much for checking out this weeks post, please check back. I'm posting now every week with vintage thrift hauls and vignettes of where I have incorporate my treasures.

Upcycle a Thrifted Vintage Resin Kitchen Plaque

 Hi Friend,

You may remember, last month I went to a awesome yard sale, there was so many vintage items I ended up going back a second day.

Today, is the day show you how I upcycled this old resin kitchen plaque into a country farmhouse/cottage farmhouse décor piece.

I clean this plaque with a couple sprays of crud cutter and got many years of crud off of this plaque

Then I painted two coats of linen chalk paint, let each coat dry.

I've seen other crafters top the the chalk paint with antique wax to seal it.

So, I applied the antique wax with a paint brush and wiped off the high areas, the more I wiped the high areas, the more the white chalk paint showed through. I think it turned out great.

What do you think? Please leave a comment.

This was a fairly quick upscale project, just allow time to let the paint dry. I have this super cute Kitchen Prayer plaque hanging in the kitchen on an end cabinet.

Check back next week for another update of what is going on at my house.

 Until next time.......,

May God Bless You and Your Family,
